Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Is there a 58 block

My boy is looking at a 2000 dodge diesel. 4x4 it is far away so he is asking as many questions as possible I told him to stay away from the 53 Block he had the owner crawl under and said he sees a 58. could it be a 58 block or is he miss reading a 53 block. Need to clearify b4 he goes a few hundred miles to check out the truck thanks ED

He could be mistaking the 3 for an 8. Unless you really get underthere you cant be sure. Espically if the underside is coated in oil from the puke bottle...
