0500 and No Start

It is not the exhaust noise that is obnoxious. It is the sound from advanced timing while the engine is cold, so the noise is coming right from the engine compartment. That is why I installed a resistor in the IAT circuit to make the ECM think that the intake air temperature is 143°. It really helps reduce the timing noise.
 
Yep. The 12v's have a mellower less rattly sound.

24V and Ford 7.3 PS for the win! A trained ear can tell the difference between them, however the are both the noisiest of the lot! 7.3 sounds more 6-71ish, to many cylinders firing per revolution.

One of the biggest differences I have ever heard , literally heard, for fuel knock is high quality commercial grade bio diesel, usually has much higher cetane ratings , better lubrication and can make a huge difference on noise. Im not talking about uncle toms home made stuff from sewer waste but from a regular high turnover station.
