DOES ANYONE KNOW OF A BETTER CLUTCH SLAVE CYL SETUP FOR 2ND GENS?
I am now on my 3rd replacement in less than 2 years.
------------------- Latest failure below:
I am on a biz trip with my 2nd Gen. The green monster still runs pretty well but the years of Vermont salt are taking their toll... .
Passing through Gainsville Va this past friday, my clutch failed to disengage on Rt 29 as I approached RT 66. Fortunatly I am now quite experienced with this problem... ...
I broke down at about 2pm and rolled into a McDonalds parking lot without a clutch. I lifted the hood to see clutch slave fluid on the firewall and the steering shaft near the firewall. Oh yes, my dealer ran the tubing over the steering shaft and it let go!
I had to drive to almost West Va up on 81 to find a new Slave cyl assy that afternoon. Naturally I had to do this with a rental car. I returned to my truck and installed my 3rd slave cyl assy in less than 2 years.
I was on my way with the new slave cyl assy before 7pm. Thankfully I carry a good amount of tools and have done this slave cyl assy before... .
---------- HISTORY:
I replaced my stock clutch back in late 99 after adding HP toys and destroying the stock clutch. This clutch has worked well since.
My stock slave cyl assy failed within the last two years. I replaced it myself and thought I did it right.
That first replacement failed within a few months and I figured I must have done something wrong.
DC warrantied the slave cyl but I paid them to install the 2nd replacement. They said a pin fell out of that first one. . ???
In the last few months my clutch pedal went to the floor in an odd manner. I traced this failure to the pedal pin falling out. DC fixed that one in the parking lot with a new c-clip.
Friday I was in traffic, (talking on the cell phone, my bad. . ) and when I pressed the clutch it felt funny and I instantly knew what happened once again. . I popped the shifter out of gear and pulled off into the McDonalds... .

So, how do I bulletproof my clutch slave cyl assy?
