Wondering if there is a fuse or two to check in this system
I installed a Jordan brake controller about 4 months ago as per instructions. Last month was the first time I used it to tow my buddy's trailer home. His trailers brakes appeared to be out of adjustment as when I tried to adjust Jordan to his 2 axle trailer I noted some brakes locking up and one or two free wheeling.
The first of the month I bought a 2000 Nash 22G and towed it home. Again I assume its brakes were out of adjustment, as I had to turn up the screw all the way to get its brakes to stop the trailer. I towed it home a 4 hr trip, all went well. Being new to the Jordan I did not note if the continuity light was on or off as I guess I forgot to read that section, being brakes did work I again assume it was. I did note one evening when walking by my truck and trailer parked on my propery that the continuity light was on, the truck and trailer have been connected up since I got it home for the last two weeks and the continuity light has been on all this time on my 10 acres. Today I finally got my shelter ready to park my trailer in out of the weather. When I was moving the trailer I noted the front drivers side wheel on the trailer was not turning this was on dry mowed grass. Wheel did rotate when on hard gravel but again would not on pea gravel. I hadn't noted that before but that wheel might have had its brakes adjusted out more than the others. I pushed the red button on the Jordan only got a reading of 0. 00 appears I now have NO Brakes on the trailer and the continuity light in not lit. Any body have a suggestion? How can I test to make sure it is the on the trailer side or the truck side?
Isn't there a way I can place a light at the end of the connector to check continuity of that side of the wiring?
I was planning on pulling all wheel and drums to inspect and repack bearing and then adjust brakes and place new tires on trailer as it is a 2000 with only 2000 to 3000 miles on it. . I would like to know if my controller is OK or if it is the wiring on the trailer before doing this Perhaps the truck to trailer connector is not making a good connection I did pull it and reinstall, but all was working when I first moved it this morning and in the course of moving it now the this problem appears
I loosened the W/D bars as it was a steep incline to back trailer down to get in the shelter. this is the only change made and this shouldn't effect the brakes but wanted to include it. Sorry for the long post but I wanted to include everything for troubleshooting
Thanks, Bill
