My father-in-law wants me to help change fuel filters on his 92. Is there a manual fuel pump to prime the fuel filter like there is on the 94 and up trucks??

Thanks!

Dan

Yes sir, probably right in the same spot, just below the filter on the side of the block. . should operate the same...

Yes. The supply pump is below the filterhead, way down on the side of the block.

There is a little lever on the side of the pump that you pull outward and then up to pump.

If it just flips up uselessly, bump the engine around slightly until the supply pump gets off the cam lobe, and then the lever will get resistance.

It does't pump a whole lot per stroke, so it'll take a bit to fill a filter. Good news is, it's 1000% easier than the 2nd gen trucks to operate. You will probably need to stand on something to reach down to it, though.

Thanks guys - I found it.

Yes, it is easier to operate than mine. I didn't see it before I posted because the lever was pointing straight down and was "camouflaged" with "gunk".

Unless I'm mistaken that lever should be in the UP position for truck operation, NOT DOWN. The manual says... "damage can result... . "

Make sure to leave it UP when you're done.

Bob.

Hmmm... . didn't know that.

When I looked at the truck, the lever was in the up position.

HA - first time I fooled murphy.
