I changed my transfer case oil a month ago and now I have oil on the back side of the case. I checked the level and some oil drained out the fill hole but not would I call excessive. I was wondering if I over filled and it just blew out a vent line? It might just be residual oil from the skid plate below the transfer case since I did spill some oil when draining. Anyone know if there is a vent on the transfer case? Thanks

some aluminum tail housings may crack with sled pulling etc. I have a leak out the center cap of the yoke. It was welded - and I still have a leak which sprays all over the cab and exhaust pipe... .

How much oil did you put in the T-case. Maybe you over filled it. Did you torque the fill and drain plugs to 30 ft lbs?

Also it's suggested that you remove the skid plate so it doesn't pick up all the drain oil. It's only 4 bolts.

The factory sealant between the case halves will dry and crack causing a leak also. It is a very common thing. I worked at a gear shop for a few years and resealed the cases on quite a few. My 02 actually has this problem also. always oil but never a drip. just weaps from the case halves usually on top passenger side.

The vent line on my truck is 1/8" O. D. rigid blue plastic tubing. I didn't check if open... . in the middle of a vp44 install.
