over a rebuild? How do you know how good a job you can get. I know nobody is going to say they do a crappy job - but I've seen a lot of rebuilt gas engines that well - let's say they weren't all equally as good... ... .

Also - since I have a FASS - and have had it on for about 90,000 miles - no Fass for about 120,000 - have they made any improvements to the rebuilds - I mean do you get any updated parts or are you back to square 1 - I mean with another unit that will have the same parts go bad, at what I feel is way to early... . Now I realize everything wears out a little bit each time you use it - so I'm not asking for miracles - just curious as to whether with sufficien fuel pressure - has Bosch updated any parts so the rebuilt may last longer?

Check out this site for issues on VP 44... ... ... http://www.bluechipdiesel.com/injectionpumpfailures.html

In the first place, it's my understanding there ARE no more new one available - unless you luck out and find one on someone's shelf.

Second, according to other info posted here, the "better" rebuilders will use all current upgrades, including the newest revision level internal electronics boards. Stick with an authorized Bosch rebuilder, and you should be fine...

hammersley - I believe that you've started looking in the right place (Blue Chip). When mine goes out, that's probably who I'll end up getting one from. It's my understanding that they update all possible components, particularly the electronics portion of the pump. But, if this is considered a "Hot Rod" VP44 then I'm not sure that I would be interested. Something I'll have to look into in the future I'm sure.

I wasn't aware that there weren't manufacturing VP44s anymore...

Blue Chip does nothing more to their pumps then any other quality manufacturer does. You are just paying more money for a "Special" pump with the same compnents of an up to date stock rebuilt pump.

I'm not sure that's 100% accurate with respect to the electronics on the pumps. Blue Chip orders their "Special" pumps with the "Fed Ex" computer, that was specifically designed for Fed Ex due to their problems with the VP44. They're supposed to be more durable in that they will last through many more heat cycles than the originals. The solder isn't supposed to crystallize on these circuit boards causing the drivability issues.

I know they do a few other things within the housing but can't comment whether other shops do this too.

Re: Vp44

Just wanted to say that we use only the best, most updated parts. We have the very best technicians. Our customers are happy with us. Our prices are very competitive. We do know what were talking about on VP44. You need to buy from someone that is not only Bosch authorized but doesn't sell cheap price only. Or you could buy from some one that deals with a authorized VP44 Bosch dealer. If you want quality in these pumps it takes parts that are expensive. Thanks www.industrialinjection.com

I had a long converstion with Chip a few weeks ago about his pumps, and was told several times by him that there are no mechanical differences between a stock pump and a "Special" Blue Chip pump. The only difference is the Blue Chip "Special" pump uses the FedEx spec PSG electronics. However most other pump builders, as well as any pump you get from Dodge or Cummins will use the same revision devloped for the FedEx trucks.

Brett,

So that by saying "we use only the best, most updated parts", I am to understand that Industrial Injection rebuilt pumps are utilizing the "Fed-Ex" circuit boards?

Just something I'd like to clarify for future consideration, should the need arise.

Thanks,

Casey

Musta missed that thread :-laf Thanks for the clarification. ;)

Price looks good, I'm feeling the itch to tap the pump wire on my '02, just need a slight push, and if I furab my vp44, I'll look up Brett and his gang.

Thanks,

Casey
