Just got off the phone with Vargas Turbo & Diesel here in Hayward, CA. Does this price quote seem reasonable:

1. Install TST fuel plate #6

2. Tune truck for this plate

3. Pyro & Boost gauges purchased and installed

Total quoted was around $850. Does this sound right?

TST plate= $275. 00 parts, 1 hour install, no tuneing needed what are they talking about.

Gauges and pod maybe $250. 00 parts about 2hours to install.

Sounds like the labor is a LITTLE high

TST gets $400 for a plate installed. 2 Gauges w/ pillar mount say $200, but this obvioulsy depends on brand. Now you are $250 to install gauges and "tune" truck. If tuning the truck includes setting the timing ($85 in my neck of the woods) I don't think you are too bad off.

JMHO,

Ryan

This quote includes labor for installing the plate and gauges and any tuning; plus the purchase price of the gauges (I already own the fuel plate).

You could save yourself about $600. Like Deezul1 said, there is no tuning required. Not to mention the fact that if you do it yourself and ever want to slide your plate for a little more power you will already have the knowledge on how to approach it. The entire install for a first timer shouldn't take much over 3. 5 hours (including guages). If you choose to do it yourself I know there will be several of us willing to help with any questions.

If you already have the fuel plate that is way too much, IMO.

I agree you might try to consider doing it yourself, or find some TDR members in your area. Most of us are pretty friendly and willing to lend a helping hand ;)

If you would like some help will give it, but I think you mite want to fill us in on your location or at least your state.

I would like to try to do it myself, but I don't have some of the tools that are required according to the instructions. Like a center punch, hand impact tool and TORX bits. How much will these tools cost me?

Total shouldnt run more than $40. 00, maybe less. If you have a harbor frieght outlet around there they would be good for the hand impact tool which are pretty hard to abuse so dont have to be top qaulity. A center punch and Torx bits wont run too much but need to be at least decent qaulity. TST web page has full install instructions and if you need a video tape of it I will mail you my TST install video. I had never done it and it took maybe an hour, very simple if you follow instructions.
