I usually change my oil after truck had been sitting over night but since it is cold out I took to run some errands and let it sit about an hour and went out to do the oil change. The drain plug seemed tight as I was turning on it and when it did come loose there was pressure behind. Needless to say it did make a little mess. i checked the puke bottle to see if it was plugged up but it was ok. Is this normal???

Try warming the engine again and cracking the oil filler cap. If there's pressure there you have a plugged crankcase vent line. It's probably plugged upstream of the overflow bottle. Shouldn't be too hard to run down.
