Shop Footwear?

You may want to find a local dealer that will at least try to price match the posted items. That way if something goes wrong, you need repair or just some helpful advice; the local will be more willing to help you out.

Just a thought

The shop I work at just bought a Hobart Handler 180 for $589. I would think you could find a better price. We got it at a local welding supply house called Toll.

It's a 220v unit. We have the previous model a 175 and it's been a great unit. My boss said they've had it for almost 10 years now and have had VERY little problem.

I have that one. So far works great. If I did it again I would get the combo package that come with the cart.

I have the Millermatic 135 & am very happy with it. I found the best price was from a local welding supply dealer who happened to be running a special. Their regular price was still better than this price quoted on e-bay. The price range for this model varied a lot. Shop around! They threw in a cart for no charge & gave me a good discount on a tank to go w/ it.

If you're looking to own one wire welder I'd buy a Millermatic 185. It will do everything a 135 will do and gives you the ability to weld 1/4" plate which is a real stretch for a 135.

I am limited to 120v unfortunately... the only 220 source in the house is for the dryer, and my garage is about 150' away...

I definitely would check locally at dealers or farm supply store like a Fleet Farm. Like Josh Peters said you can pick up a hobart handler 180 for that price. Also check with local welding supply shops they rentals for sale also. I picked up Handler 180 last year with everything for $585. 00. Just my 2 cents but I would look at local business first.

Miller makes a better welder than Hobart IMO. A good thing to check is the duty cycle. The higher the better.

Miller is the manufacture of Hobart now. I know Miller is better but price was right for me and my needs at the time. Had to do inner rocker panels, floor panels, torque boxes and frame rails on my sisters 67 Mustang Convertible. worked good for that job, I use a Miller 250 for and roll cage and back half on my 66 Fairlane drag car. Use the Miller 250 at work all time great welders no doubt. If I were to buy another one I would go with Miller 250. Good luck with what ever you decide to go with.

ive only used a miller 200 and loved it,,,, I used it for a month staight at 10hrs a day and it never gave me a bit of trouble at all! I was very impressed and that's the model i will buy when I get to that point.

I use a ThermalArc. It's an invrter-style, the size of a grande lunch box, weighs about 30 lbs, runs off 115/230 and walks through 5/16th. Good for work(elevator modernizations) & play ( trailer hitch fab).
