Gooseneck Hitch Recommendations for 3rd Gen?

Hey guys just seeing if there is a difference in wiring on 2nd & 3rd gens. Buddy loaned me his trailer and has a 3 rd gen. I have 2nd need to know if i have to change wiring at all.

Have had the same trailer for 12 years. I don't know about the 2nd. gen. but my 04 hook up on the lights is the same as my "93" 1st. gener. Its the number of pins in the plug. Its the same. Different brands of vechicle's may differ in the color codes of wiring.

The 7 pin hookup has two different common wiring schemes for it. One is the RV scheme that is used stock on our trucks the other is Semi or commercial vehicle scheme with that it has the hot lead in the same location as our trucks put the brake lead. So if you hook up a trailer with RV scheme to truck with commercial scheme it will lock trailer brakes, can't remember what the truck does when you hook RV truck to commercial trailer I think left blinker applies brakes but not 100%

The wiring snafu only normaly hits when you get a gooseneck flatbed trailer or other commercial type trailer.

There is a variation as described above (+12VDC and trailer brake wires swapped) that's common on the 6-pin connector used on many gooseneck trailers, but that's the first time I've ever heard of it on the 7-pin Pollack connector used on our trucks.

Normally, the commercial 7 pin wiring is used with round pin connectors in the receptacle. The RV version usually has flat pin connections. Our trucks and most RVs use the flat pins.
