Is TT inspection in Pa a real pain?

I just bought a 1978 Sportsman 24 ft camper trailer and I was wondering if it is a real pain to get them inspected in Pennsylvania?



I was considering putting it in my dad's name in Ohio so I would not have to go through the inspection BS. But the lady I bought it from already filled in my Pa address, so I'd have to title it in Pa and then give it back to my dad in Ohio to do it. Maybe it's not worth it.

No, not really. Main areas are brake lining and magnets, Lights, Tires and the Break-away switch.

Although I skipped the last year because I had not been doing too much trailering, I have an RV dealer inspect my horse trailer. No big deal. They pull at least one wheel for a look at the brakes. I don't recall if they pulled or at least lifted the other three to be honest. They check the lights and the brake away switch. Since I had no propane for anything, I would not know if they look at that.



Why not call a dealer and ask service what's involved? Think about this too, they did find a bad wheel bearing one year that I had not picked up on. I don't know how well versed you are mechanically, may pay to have a "reputable" dealer take a look.

Thanks a lot guys. It doesn't sound too bad. I guess Pa plates are about $10 cheaper than Ohio's, so that will offset the inspection cost a little. I just hate the whole intrusion of it.



I'll have everything working right before I even take it anywhere. I'm gonna move the axles under the springs to get it up a little. I'll check the brakes and repack the bearings too.
