Yea i want my truck to look good but at the end of the day it is still a work truck. If its between me and the truck to get in on a job site through the mud hole the truck is going in first all the time.

Bought my rig to use it, not to look pretty in front of the house,(when its here). But with my mobile wash and detail biz set up in the bed, a clean truck is only 10 minutes away !! Now my 70 Chevelle SS "clone", and my 'just got running yesterday' 87 Turbo Regal on the other hand... ... :D :-laf

Did you say SS Chevelle and '87 Turbo Regal. We'll back in 1987 I bought a brand new Buick Grand National and I use to run it at Raceway Park every Friday night. Here's a shot from 1988 with old Tower in the back ground. I loved that car it ran high 11's with slicks.

Everyone here is a total lair (except me ;) ) I KNOW that these trucks are a fashion statement. Look at all the talk about stacks, lights, wheels, flares, etc...

Any red-blooded CTD owner who doesn't say they identify with their trucks beyond their utilitarian benefits is fooling themselves!

I'll second that .

Thats what I said!! Have 200 miles on the TR in 3 days, trying to get 1000 on it before the 15th, having a turbo Buick vs. Supra day at the track here. Smacked the go pedal a few times today in the Regal, WOOHOO, Oo. definitely going to need slicks or some real sticky ET Streets for the track. Local hotshot here says 11. 50's should be no problem !! :D :-laf

Go get those Supra rice burners. I sold my GN back in '93 and purchased a new Vette that year. I'm Sorry I ever did that. My GN was the best bang for the buck car I ever owned. It was 17K brand new at my Buick dealer back in '87 and that included the optional glass power sunroof.

Yeh you should be in the 11's with that car no problem. Best of luck.

With the recent discussions on the 2006 models and the Mega Cab dually, there have been a lot of comments on the appearance of the changes. It seems to some members, appearance is everything. To others, functionally is a much bigger factor. What's you feeling?

Ken, I see that Dodge is making a Mega Cab Dually. I like the fenders, they look like the 1st generation dually. :)

I think Dodge is getting too crazy with styling. The '03-'05 trucks look good. The first thing I thought of the 2006 was... UGLY... but it is growing on me. Kind of liking the headlights a bit on the side.

What I don't like is the worthless fender flare on the megacab. Stupid looking. Lots of us are coming to Dodge from older stalwarts like early Ford diesels ('87-'91) and like that older looking style that was simple and functional. Don't want too much artsy junk that costs more in the body shop.

Just my $0. 02... you asked for it.

Mike

I made a slip of the tongue once, talking with one of my many DOC's, a close friend to my 20 year younger brother. . . said I, "It's just a truck. " Thought the man was gonna have a heart attack. Guess I just don't understand, and I live in mine.

Cheers,

Steve J

I sorta work with mine, sure I could get by with something smaller, but I like my space. Seems to annoy all the greenie weenies too.

Me thinks y'all know nothing of head turning trucks. For some reason, no one even glances at my dodge when I use it for it's intended purpose, which is to tow my 4x4 ... .

The only thing that looks better than a Dodge pulling my 3-horse gooseneck trailer down the road is my '91 Ford F-350 pulling that trailer down the road.

Held back buyin mine until Dodge came out with the SRW 3500 in '03. I wanted the Cummins, and it didn't hurt that I like the styling of the Ram.

Function is the key, but it didn't stop me from giving in to style. My dealer did one heckuva job finding one in the right colorswithou having to order it. As soon as I'm out of warranty, the Dodge badge on the tailgate is gonna get replaced with a McCormick-Deering Farmall decal.

The only thing that looks better than a Dodge towing a 5er down the road is a Dodge towing a Ford 6. 0 back to the dealer. :-laf
