ISB pump failure, here's how to get it fixed.

My 98. 5 ISB pump failed last week. Dealer says,"Sorry, we can't warranty it. "
I thought I was going to have to shell out the big bucks until I called Scheid Diesel in Effingham, Illinois. {800-669-1934}
To make a long story short, they said bring it over, and in a few hours I had a new pump and no charge! They are a Cummins and Bosch factory authorized shop and can do warranty work on your Dodge. Great people to work with, just ask for Rick in the service department. Not only do they sponsor a great TDR event every summer, but they are a 1st class shop.

Did you check the pressures of your lift pump to make sure it wasn't the cause of your injector pump?

Mike, the electric lift pump was the cause of the pump failure, and it was replaced first by the dealer. Incidentally, the vp44 pump has been updated 6-7 times since my original pump built in April of 98.

wyattearp, If memory serves, I thought I had heard the VP44 had gone through something like 36 design changes since the first 98. 5 units (albeit, most of them rather small). Hmmm, now you have me wondering.....

Is there a series of these pumps that are failing? I'm a little worried now that I've modified my truck. Also, what happened to the TSB links?

Why did Scheid cover it under warranty and not the dealer????

I believe the Cummins warranty is separate from the Dodge warranty and it's 100k miles.
