My 98. 5 vp44 pump failed last week. Dealer says, "Sorry, no warranty. " Truck has 58,000 miles on it. Thought I was going to have to shell out the big bucks until I called Scheid Diesel in Effingham, Illinois. (8oo-669-1934)
To make a long story short, they said just bring it over, and we'll replace it, no charge. That is exactly what happened. They are a Cummins and Bosch authorized dealer and can do warranty work on your truck! Great people to do work with, just ask for Rick in the service department. Not only do they sponsor a great TDR event every summer, they are a 1st class shop and never too busy to answer your questions.

What do you mean no warrenty? I expected once I read down to your sig. that you had power enhancements that the dealer blamed on the pump failure. You're unbombed and unwarrented, what's this world coming to? #ad

I didn't say I was unbombed. I just elected to leave what I have off my signature line. I posted this message with the hope that some of my fellow Cummins enthusiasts could benefit.

unfortunatly us guys on the west coast don't have those great places to do business with. if there is i would sure like to know where they are.

Mike, the electric lift pump was the cause of failure, the dealer replaced it first. Incidentally, the vp44 has been updated 6-7 times since mine was built in April of 98.

I sware I just read my 98. 5 VP-33 was covered for 10 years 100K miles?

Scheid does all my motor work, that is where my dealer sent me. About three miles from my house here in Terre Haute.
