2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission IssPro Boost Gauge Noise

Anyone else have their boost gauge make a loud ticking noise when you get above 5 psi? Seems like when I'm above 5psi my gauge will tick like crazy. I was wondering if a mechanical FP gauge would do the same thing.

I had a buzz coming from mine that was solved with a special fitting that was called a "snubber". It's pretty much a regular compression fitting that has a really tiny hole drilled in it to allow pressure to flow from one side or another. It's kinda hard to describe but if you take a normal fitting and look through it there will be about a 1/16th hole in it. If you look at the "snubber" it has a hole small enough that a sewing needle won't go through it. Pressure will equalize across it, but any pulses are greatly reduced. In my case the pulses were causing the buzz and this fixed the problem for me.

I asked the same question about two weeks ago. I ended up getting a snubber like mikel is talking about. It fixed my problem completely.



I got the snubber from BD. The part # is 1200210, I think it cost like $2. 50 + shipping.



FWIW, I have the isspro gauges too. I think a lot of people seem to have problems with them rattling or making some kind of noise.

I have the same problem, but only when I put my foot into the pedal and develop a lot of boost right away I can cruse and climb grades with boost #'s 10 to 20 pounds and don't have the buzz?

Mine was the same way. It only happened when I had my foot in it.

I got the snubber too. Where did you install it? Does it matter where?

I installed the boost pickup into the back of the intake manifold near #6. There is a plug there that I took out and just used a bushing to make up the difference between the small compression fitting and the manifold.



I was told that this was actually the cause of my problem too, but I didn't want to drill the intake horn so I used the snubber instead. The guy I talked to said that the close proximity to #6 caused the gauge to pick up the pressure pulses from that cylinder causing the gauge to rattle, he offered the advice that I could drill and tap the intake horn and my noise would go away.



Like I said, I didn't want to drill into anything so I left the boost pickup where it was and used the snubber.

I too have the IssPro Boost gauge that rattles when boost is climbing fast. I mounted it on the intake manifold in the stock port, also because I didn't want to drill the intake horn.



I'm interested in the snubber. After reading the previous posts again, I still didn't get where the snubber part is installed. I suppose it's obvious enough with part in hand, but I'll ask again anyway.



Where exactly is the snubber installed?

No it is not obvious... . I have the snubber in my hand, and I can't tell where it goes!

With the issopro boost gauge I got, there was a brass fitting that has a crush sleve in it. It is supposed to go at the end of the tubing where it attaches to the motor. The snubber will take the place of this fitting. It looks exactly the same, except the hole inside of it that lets the air through is much smaller.



So... if you already have your gauge installed, just replace that one fitting with the snubber and you should be good to go. If you haven't installed your gauge yet, I highly recommend the turbo boost gauge fitting that Piers sells. It replaces one of your intake bolts, and is threaded to accept the snubber. It is sooo easy to install. Take out one bolt, put the piers one in its place, then thread the snubber in to the piers bolt. That's it, no need to drill anything, etc. To see the boost gauge fitting i'm talking about go to http://www.piersdiesel.com/DodgeProducts.htm and scroll down a bit. There is also a picture of one installed.

I am getting ready to buy gauges, and am almost ready to order ISSPRO EVA series for EGT, Boost, and Fuel Pressure. Any suggestions/recommendations welcome.

I've got the Issopro boost gauge and have never heard any noise from it. Seems like I never experience the problems I read about on TDR. I have my own unique experiences!!Oo.

My isspro fuel pressure gauge is doing the same thing called Rod and he told me they are having a bad time with them. They are supposed to be solving the problem and getting a new batch out to everyone. It would buzz so loud you couldn't here the truck running. I just unhooked it and am waiting for the new one to arrive.

I have the Piers Boost gauge fitting. I still got the rattle with it. I didn't get rid of the rattle until I installed the snubber. Now I have no rattle, or weird noises at all. The beauty of the piers fitting is that it makes for such an easy install. The snubber I got from BD Power. www.bd-power.com Their phone number is 1-800-887-5030, part # is 1200210. I think it cost like $2. 50 + shipping. Other people may have them too, but I'm not certain of any other places.
