ISSPRO Boost Gauge Readings

I have just installed an ISSPRO Boost Gauge. ISSPRO provides no information regardng what readings to expect. I noted on the TST website that, for the TST boost gauge, a reading of 4-6PSI at 55mph on level ground, unloaded, is normal. My ISSPRO reads only 3PSI under these conditions. No leaks are evident. Would appreciate hearing what readings some of you are getting with the ISSPRO boost gauge at various speeds and loads.

Just wanted to add that I have done a search of old posts on this topic and found that nearly every response to questions about turbo boost is from the "BOMBed" folks, who speak of readings from another galaxy. My truck is unmodified, so I'm interested in the lower range of readings for unmodified engines. Thanks for any information you can provide. P. S. I emailed ISSPRO several days ago, but no response yet.

I think your gauge is doing just fine. If you are only producing 3 PSI on level ground.

The only time you are going to see much boost is when you are working the engine. As I remember, this engine will produce about 10 HP for every pound of boost. Stock 97 engine 18 pounds of boost would be roughly 180 HP, this is when the engine is working hard. The bombers are getting much more boost, some as high as 40 PSI!

I wouldn't worry about 3 lbs of boost. There are so many factors that it will vary some from truck to truck. The fact that your's is 2wd means it doesn't have to work as hard going down the road, less wind drag and no T-case. I have the same gauges as you, although gauge brand should have no effect on readings. With the stock 215 hp motor, I get 24 psi max. If your truck is a CA truck (180 hp?), you'll get less.

I have a 1997 4x4 auto. ,3. 54 gears stock Cal. motor with the same gauges. Unloaded on level ground at 55-60 mph I read almost zero boost,If I come up a small grade it will go to between 4-6 lbs. Have you put your foot into it yet?I have and the most it will read is 18-20 lbs. This is about normal for a stock motor. If you see yours climb when you're coming up a grade at highway speeds,I would say everything is OK.
