Just installed Isspro 50# Boost, EGT, and transmission Temp gauges in full pillar w/ tweeter. Turned out pretty good except for mounting of the factory tweeter - not impossible to live with though. My problem is the gauges are too dim at night. Anyone know what bulbs to replace them with to shed some light on this situation? Thanks in advance!

Hey Will,

I just put the same exact gauges in today, except only the EGT is hooked up at this point. I'm waiting to service my transmission for that gauge, and the boost gauge is on back order. I know what you mean about the EGT, it's not super bright. But I think it's okay - brighter might be too bright for me. Maybe Wally19 will see this and have an idea. He helped me with the light hook-up.

By the way, where did you hook in your transmission sender?

If you've got a Pep Boys store near you, try
the Victor brand blue mood lights.
They're brighter than the plastic colored hoods that go over stock bulbs.
Also, the clear white bulbs come in different wattage ratings

Bent6 I posted the same question a few weeks back. Somebody gave me Isspro's e mail address, and I mailed them a week ago. Still waiting on the reply. I'll post their response.

The bulbs may come in different wattages but no catalouge I have seen gives details, just lists 3 or 4 numbers that will fit.

I think I hooked mine up to fuse 5 or so. They dim w/ dash gauges.

The trans temp is way too bright, the pyro is just right and the bulb socket (same as other 2 ) sent w/ boost does not fit the gauge... . plastic bulb holder is smaller than hole in gauge, keeps falling out. Tried wrapping it w/ tape but no go.

You have to surgically remove a whole bunch of the factory pillar where it is molded for the tweeter so the gauge and tweeter will fit in the pillar pod.
Tweeter fits loose in full pillar pod, hole too big.

Make sure you are looken at the gauges in the dark. My turbo gauge is dim but can see it ok in the dark.
My egt was way to bright especially around the edge of the gauge. Easy fix grab a black marker and shade in the edge of the glass. Not to bright any more.
I have light sensetive eyes. I turn my dash lights as dim as I can. Put black tape with a slight pin hole on it and covered the high beam indicator.

My Isspro's came stock with #158 bulbs. The boost was dimmer than the EGT so I left the EGT alone, but replaced the boost bulb with a #168.

My recomendation with Isspro wiring hookups is to NOT tie in the the dimmer circut... just tie it in where it lights up full blast because they will always be dimmer than the dash lights.

NAPA, Echlin, and Standard Ignition catalogs (as well as some others) all have the wattage of the bulb listed next to the size. If it's the metal case gauge, you'll need a 4 watt bulb to be able to see it clearly at night, except for the pyro, which doesn't have a big diaphram head in front of it like pressure gauges. If you have the plastic bulb case, a 4wt will melt the housing, tho. If it's the new white plastic housing gauge, you should be good with the factory ISSPRO bulb (2. 8 and 3 watt). If that doesn't work, E me and I'll give you Don Wendlicks # (head of R&D at ISSPRO)... T

Mine are too dim as well. The boost is dimmer than the EGT, and the bulb falls out. I have the A-pillar mount, but have not put the gauges there just yet. Currently they are mounted ahead of the 4x4 shifter near the floor. Isspro.

BTW, if you have a rattle in the boost gauge, order the "snubber" from BD ($3. 00).
