Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Isspro gauge question

Previous owner installed three gauges (pyro, boost and transmission temp) but only had the pyro and boost installed when I got the truck. The pyro and boost work. I installed the sender for the transmission gauge and it doesn't move off bottom (which is 140 on this gauge). I realize that is kind of high for a bottom end but I towed the other day and it still didn't budge. Got to looking at the gauge module and noticed that there is no power supplied to the module at the position for a hot wire. Will the boost and pyro gauges work without power to the module and is power to the module required for the transmission gauge to function?

The boost gauge is a mechanical gauge and the other two are electrical. The isspro gauges have one set of wires(+and-) to power the light and another to power the needle for electric gauges. Both the boost and transmission temp use a sensor that connects to an amplifier box with 2 wires which connects to the gauge with 2 wires. The power for these gauges is introduced to the amplifier box.

The module I'm looking at has the wires going directly to the trans temp sending unit so perhaps that is the amplifier. It is grounded but has no power hookup so maybe it does need that hot to work.

Would there be any problems tapping into the pyro hot wire to supply power to the trans temp gauge?

Is the unit that you are looking at a little black box about 2" square? If so, that is the amplifier.



I don't see any problems with using the same hot for both pyro and transmission since I think that they are very low amperage. I may be wrong but I would imagine that it should work just fine.

It is actually a little white box about 2x2 but I'm sure it is it after tracking wires and finding the other amplifier. I'll try tapping into the power on the other box and see what happens.

Hi,

I am Rex McKinney (1995 Stock) except the transmission pan witch is a deep pan I got from Summit so I could drill and tap to install the sending unit.

My ispro low temp is 100 and the transmission won't get above above 100 until i drive for a few miles.

With driving with no load it won;t hardly ever get to 140.

I'm not much help but something to think about.

i would think it all depends on where you get your temp reading from. i think they do it from one of the fluid lines too. havent followed the autos much.
