First of all, let me say thank you to those who answered all my questions during my "A" pillar installation adventure. I used the orange/wht wire from the dimmer and the cigarette lighter for my ignition/on hot. Everything works great. I did learn that when tapping the exhaust manifold use a Snap- On or Craftsman quality tap and cutting oil. Made all the difference. Thanks again for all the answers. I am surprised on how fast the exhaust temps go up from idle 300-350 deg. to 600-700 just starting from a red light. . Kinda makes me wonder what temps I was pullling my trailer at going up the Grapevine? :eek: Or maybe I don't want to know.

I'm installing my new Isspros now as well. I thought the drill/tap was going to be the toughest part, but it turned out the wiring is the most difficult for me (thanks in part to a lot of help from other TDR members on how to do the tap).



Would you mind describing how you tapped your gauges into the dimmer swith and cigarette lighter? I've already got the panel pulled down for the dimmer, but I'm not sure how to get all three of my gauges hooked up to the thin dimmer wire. And when using the cigarette lighter for power, do you bring wires from all three gauges over and simply splice them onto the cigarette lighter hot wire?

This is how I did it, I ran a dual conductor cable from the light switch to the area I put the gages (in the old cubby hole), then I daisy chained the positive wire to each of the gages, did the same with the negative. What this means is I crimped the hot wire and one other wire in a spade terminal, plugged it into my first gage, took the other wire and another wire and crimped them into another spade terminal and plugged it into the second gage, took the remaining wire to the 3rd gage. My gages didn't need a seperate power source, only my EGT gage conditioning unit. I also tapped into the cigarette lighter for that. My problem is my boost gage lighting is flickering. Geno's sent me a replacement gage but it is doing it also. I know my wiring is good but it is hard to believe two gages are bad. I'll be pulling my dash apart again tonight to try and find the problem. John

Isspro Gauges

First, I daisy chained the light lead and grounds together. I unscrewed and pulled off the left side of the lower dash section. I had to unplug the adjustable pedal connection to expose the dimmer switch. I tapped into the orange/white wire from the dimmer and connected that to the lone light lead and did the same with the ground. On the hot lead for the gauges. I unscrewed the screw by the trash bag hook and carefully pulled off the dash section around the radio and cigarette lighter. I found the hot and tapped into it. I used double sided 3M padded tape and stuck the power boxes to the aluminum brace under the dash. All in all, everything went well. The wiring was the toughest part. I also installed the EGT probe in the exhaust manifold between the #3 and #4 cylinder. I was affraid I would hit that web in the lower section closer to the turbo. I stripped my first 1/8 NPT tap. (Cheap ***** Harbor Freight) I recommend Craftsman or equal quality tap, with oil or grease often. I used a magnet to get the shavings out of the manifold. I had to extend the trans oil temp wires. Isspro only gives you about 3' or so. I called Isspro and made sure it would not affect the readings. All good. I put the sensor for the temp gauge into the passenger side rear test port in the trans. I had to use an bell reducer with an short nipple. I did not think of all these things on my own. I asked and all you guys responded. I am just spreading the news. Thanks again to all who assisted me. I will post some pics as soon as I figure that part out. One thing that I did do was remove the trim off the stock pillar and attached it to the gauge pillar. It helps keep the pillar from rattling and looks like stock from the front of the truck looking in the windshield. thanks again Jashpaugh. .



PS. I have some gauge install file I downloaded off the internet I can send to anyone who needs it. its an Adobe file with pics. . pretty helpful. .
