Hey all,

I just put an Isspro tach in my truck, and I'm having some problems with it. I figured I'd check here while I wait for their tech support to get back to me (if they ever do... been waiting since Monday), maybe somebody else has had this same issue.

I have the EV2 tach, ISS-R12502 from Geno's garage, and the 92-93 wiring adapter.

At first, I followed the instructions and hooked it up using the yellow wire to the truck's harness, but the tach bounced all over the place if it worked at all, and would jump wildly when I blipped the throttle.

So, I swapped it for the white wire, and it "works" somewhat now. When I cranked the truck the first time after swapping the wires, it worked fine, 750-800 idle in gear with the a/c on, and seemed to register correctly when I gave it some gas.

But when I shut the truck off, it went to 1,500 RPM and stayed there after I took the key out. I cranked it again, and it was idling at 1,500, and seemed to use that as it's baseline. I was cruising at 2,200 RPM at 50 MPH, and it never went below 1,500 RPM.

When I shut it off next time, it stayed at 1,500 RPM. I turned the engine off/on and now it's reading correctly at idle.

Next time I tried cycling the key on/off before cranking it, and the needle went to zero, and it read the correct idle speed. That worked for a couple days, but now I have to turn the key on/off several times before it will read correctly. One time it started reading incorrectly while I was driving after it was reading correctly when I first cranked it.

Any suggestions? Oh, it's grounded to the back of the stereo, along with my clearance lights and my other gauges, and they are all working fine, so it's probably not a ground issue.

I HAD an Isspro in my '92 (manual), but it didn't look the same as the Geno's part and I don't believe it had LED lighting. Can't help with your diagnosis or confirm a '93 is same as '92, only wish you good luck and pass along some FSM stuff that may help you troubleshoot. The '92 had a 4 pin connector by the fuse box set up for plug-n-play tach drive. 18 ga black to ground (the headlamp switch ground), 20 orange to illumination circuit, 18 red power supply via the turn signal flasher (fuse #9) and 20 gray/light blue tach drive to terminal 43 on the SBEC. Don't know for certain but assumer the crank position sensor provides the necessary SBEC terminal 24 reference.

Isspro sent me a new filter wire for the signal and it seems to be working now. Haven't had a chance to drive it, bute I cranked it twice and it read 750 and didn't flutter around. I had already bought a Glowshift tach to replace it because it matched my other glowshift gauges, but that one didn't work right either. Seems that Chrysler used some oddball signal voltage, and there are very few aftermarket tachs that will work for us. Isspro and Autometer from what I'm seeing.
