What car covers do you recommend for outside?

I installed the turbo temp monitor last fall. A couple months ago it started hanging up and not shutting down. If I slam the door or tap on the knee bolster near it, it will trip it after the turbo is cool. I called the vendor where I bought it and they offered to replace it but suggested I try taking the cover off and spraying contact cleaner on the points to try to fix it first. I will be doing this today.

I don't think there is too much draw on the relay because all I'm powering is the engine shutdown relay.

Have any of you had this happen? Did the contact cleaning clear it up?

I came out from seeing Jeff Foxworthy Friday night and the truck was sitting there idling, it had been for about an hour and a half. At that moment I came up with my own "You may be a Redneck if. . ":(

Don't mess with it. Send it back. Sounds to me like the meter movement is sticking, or has debris in it. Spraying cleaner into the meter movement is a bad thing.

Also check your EGT probe. Mine got loose and wasn't reading accurately. I was able to see this on my gauge readings but it also confused the heck out of the TTM.

Otherwise, call them and arrange for a replacement. A buddy of mine had one die on him after a few weeks and they took care of him.

I had this happen too!

I went on a service call for work on Sat. night, and after I spent 4 hours on the road in a snow storm, I took my keys out and went it the house at about 2:00 am. When I woke up about 8:00am my truck was still idling. Yikes!! I went out side and went for a long hard drive, and I hope all is well, but I have to still look at my TTM setup. I have noticed lately, that my cool down times have been a little longer than normal. I am going to pull out my probe, and try cleaning it. I let you know.

Just in time

I was going to get one of these setups. I think, after hearing these problems, I'll wait a little longer. . I have something similar on my Mack, factory option, and have never had it running the next day when I get there. Maybe I could rig theirs up.

That's scary Wally. I haven't had any problems with mine yet and AFAIK I was the first one in the TDR to install one. I'll definately keep an eye on it though.

Dang, you guys. I was thinking about one of these, but now I'll be holding off to see what happens. Maybe it's a WI thing. Too much cheese?;)

No Dave, cheese causes other things to not work right!

Thanks everyone. I haven't heard of any problems from anyone else until now. Based on what Tommy T. said I'm going to replace it after I take a peak at it.

Hey Steve, what are you powering with yours? Did you hook up a relay to run the Engine Shutdown Relay or are you powering the primary side of the ESD relay with the TTM?

When I did the install, I powered only the primary side of the ESD. It does turn on the brake and ABS light but it doesn't store a code.

Update:

So I took the cover off shortly after this post was originally up and looked inside. Super clean, the contacts still look new. So I take my finger and move the contact manually a couple times and listen to the ESD relay click a couple times. Put the cover back on and left it in the truck because I was going to Goerends for the dyno weekend and I figured I'd deal with it after that. It's been working fine since. If this thing dies a premature death after warrantee I'll be #@$%!
