Anyone else had problems with the orange valve cover gaskets from Genos? I put a new set in about 500 miles ago when I did the head and they fit fine then. At the first retorque in noticed they seamed to have stretched a bit but I could still force them on. Today I did a second retorque and they've grown in length to the point where I couldn't get them in and had to use my old ones :(.
Not sure if the material is funky and the oil is messing them up or if they don't return from the compression of the valve cover. I've bought replaced more valve cover gaskets than I can remember but this is a first.

Called Genos this morning and left a voice message, never heard back yet.

You can see in these pics how the gasket is in place on most of the valve cover but ends up being too long.

Hang in there, I am sure they will get back to you. Genos has gone above and beyond my expectations a few times

Cummins replacement gaskets (gray) did the same thing--one use only. Only the original black ones that came on our 12-valve engines seemed to keep their size upon re-use. I don't know where you could get them any more.

I was just going to say "single use"! I have two B150's in the boat and the black ones do not grow! The Grey ones did! Chris

Great, so I just wasted $30 on a set of gaskets that lasted me a month and 500 miles. One time use will make lifting valve covers a spendy ordeal :(. I have an old set of grey ones that fit just fine for many years but eventually lost there compression. The ones I just reused are black ones that I think came from Source about 6 years ago, I'll have to give them a call.
Thanks for the info.

I have a dozen Cummins ones if you want them, in a Cummins box, 3930906. The box is still sealed so I don't know but they are probably the gray ones.

I'm in Joe. I'll use the blue ones on this truck but I have another motor to put together. PM me what you need for them and a PP address and I'll get it taken care of. Thanks you.

It takes some patience, but the gray ones can be re-used. I have found out to be very careful when wiping cleaning them off not to pull the cleaning cloth lengthwise.

Finally caught up with Genos. They've never had this problem before but none the less they gave me a refund. Decent customer service as always, just a little slower this time :).

Buy a new set and glue them into the valve covers. When you remove them, leave them in the valve covers and just wipe the oil off the head and the bottom of the gaskets.

I stock the 3930906 Cummins OEM gaskets at the dealership, I will check in the morning and see what color they are.
I'm thinking gray, but will verify that.
