Issues with my Brakesmart controllor

We just arrived in Fl from NC and I noticed on my brakesmart the message "EGT not connected" I am not using the EGT at all and this is the first time I have seen this message. Normally the message is the current date, day,month and year. I have the trailer set for about a month stay here, but I want brakes when I leave. Any ideas as to what my next steps are. I am thinking of jacking up one wheel to see if the brakes still work, they worked when I pull in. Help, I have reconnected to the trailer but no change.

Your controller is working fine. You need to cycle through the pages with the M or E key (can't remember which). Check your manual. I don't think they ever actually came out with the EGT / Boost sensor. Sure wish they would.

To check to see if your brakes work manually... as you are moving slowly forward gently push down on the red button on the right hand side of the BrakeSmart, this should manually apply the brakes on the trailer and you will feel a tug.



Like klenger mentioned it sounds like your display just needs to be changed with the 'E' or 'M' button(s).

Thanks guys, you are right, I must have bumped the E or M buttons to caused the EGT display to come up. I cleared EGT display and the date came back. I had not seem the display before and it had been a couple years since I had set it up, just paniced.
