Oil Pump Bolts Question

How many miles on auto transmission???

Changed map and no difference. It feels like it is defueling. The reason i say that is because i should be getting a nice cloud of soot at WOT and i'm not. But if i rev and let go quickly at idle it puffs a nice cloud. What would cause it defuel?

Adjust your timing to 3(18*) or 4(16*), it will spool up quicker and you will increase your boost. If it still isn't up to your liking, start turning up tq management, 1 level at a time. Let us know.

I think i may have found the problem. I'm not sure if this would cause it but i may be sucking air into the fuel system at the very least. I found a leak at the top of the fuel tank coming from the return line. The plastic elbow fitting on the factory pump pickup is cracked and leking on top of the tank. It is coming from the return line fitting. Could this be it? I gues i have to pick up a new in tank pump?

If its the return line no, it would have to be in the supply line to put air into the fuel and you would notice a power loss.

I hate to say it but its beginning to sound like your turbo is toast. :(

I was going to pick up a BD Special next week is it a descent turbo? I'm getting it new for $1,500. 00. Anyone have anything for sale or other ideas. I really wanted to rebuild my stocker and use it in a twin set up but i can't really afford the $3000 dollar hit right now.

Have you backed your timing down yet... . TM2 is default and also the most advanced. If your Egde was spooling your turbo, there is no reason the Smarty will not, other than tuning.

Before you go replacing your turbo, try other settings, the Smarty is easy. Just make sure you reload the switch after you change the options, in other words, change the timing and tq in options, then reload whatever SW# you want.

Update... . I checked the play in the turbo shaft and it is fine. There are no oil leaks although i found a trace of oil in the WG hose. (is that normal?) The turbo pulls up to 30 psi like nobodies business. I have never shut my truck off without cooling it below 350 degrees. I really don't thing my turbo is messed up. I could be wrong i guess. My truck now idles at 650 rpm and is somewhat erratic at idle. Not much it goes from 600 to650 and back. Other than the idle it runs really smooth. I am going to fix the leaky return line and make sure i don't have a leak at the feed and then hook up the Edge to see if i could boost past 30 with the Edge. If i cannot then it probably is the turbo. I used to boost to 42 psi with the Edge every time. If i boost tto 40 with Edge than what? It has to be the Smarty i guess. Iam going to do this tonight and i'll post my findings. Thanks for all your help.

JJ, i have to check but i think i have my timing on 1. I believe on TNT T1 is stock. Let me fix the fuel leaks first and then i'll mess with the settings. Thanks

Back off the TNT and reload the Revo and see if does the same thing. Thne try the Edge and see what happens. If those one or two will make your normal boost then it must the TNT software and how it loaded.

A 100 HP tune on a blocked WG will push 40+ psi on any timing setting on Revo. If its a glitch its in that tune.

Don't know about oil in the WG hose unless its there to lube the actuator and keep it working. I guess its possible. Did you check and see whether the actuator has an adjustable rod? Maybe the spring is just gone in it and its blowing the WG open. Maybe put vice grips on the actuator rod to hold it in its rest postion?

Good idea on the WG actuator, will do that tonight first because that is the easiest. I'll post back tonight after the fuel is fixed and i try a few things.

This is the only aftermarket turbo I have driven with. When it gets up above 12-15 psi it spools pretty quick. It is slow below that, daily city driving. If I do a boosted launch all I get is tire smoke, if I floor it I have a full black eclipse of the sun. I have not towed with it yet. It will easily hit 50 psi. I have not wanted to really go much more than that, no studs.

Fixed the fuel leak. It was the return from the AD not the engine. My idle is back to 800 and is smooth not erratic anymore. Boost is still same. I am loading the revo back into the Smarty right now and going to put it in the truck tomorrow to see if there is a difference. If not Edge is going in and then will see if the boost changes. cv

OK Here we go. I guess this thread is wrongly titled. I pulled out my turbo and all intercooler pipes and the cooler were full of oil. So i guess i blew out the intake side seal. I installed a new BD Super B Special and now th truck is back to normal.

Currently i have the Revo software SW5 TQ3 T2 RP2 WG off. I cannot boost over 35 lbs. I tried the TNT and same thing. We installed the same program on my friend's truck with 90hp's and HTT turbo and same thing cannot boost past 35.

We re-conected the Edge to his truck and BOOM! 52lbs on hot level 6. WTF!!! Does the Smarty have to be stacked to boost higher #'s? I thought it was good up to 45psi? I love my Smarty but i didn't spend money on a turbo capable of 50 psi to boost 35. Please help before i do something dumb like re-connect my Edge.
