This weekend, with the help of JFitzgerald, we woke up my 1992 W-250. We moved the pump 1/8" towards the engine and put a 16 cm hotend housing on the turbo. I am really impressed as it lowerd my EGT by 100*F (to 650*F) at 72 mph and increased the boost 3 lb at the same speed. There is no obvious lag on the turbo and I now have a top boost of 15 to 16 lbs with stock fuel settings. My wife thinks the best part is that the truck is much quieter in the cab. Going through town the truck would shift into OD at 35 mph and just vibrate the cab. You couldn't hear anything or hardly see straight for that matter. Now it is very nice and quiet inside, even with the 3. 5" straight pipe. The truck sounds really mean on the outside though. There is absolutely no smoke or haze from the truck either. I still got 20 mpg after numerous full throttle starts. I also tured the high speed screw CC 1. 5 turns last week. That is a nice modification too.
I am just posting my experiences for others that are on the edge of retiming or changing turbo housings. It is a very inexpensive upgrade and well worth your time.
