of all things, the driver side garment hook fell out. eghad, I'm stranded. sure the mighty cummins rattles but who can go anywhere without a gament hook.

I'm at work, the shop manual is at home. Can anyone describe how it re-attaches?

It goes back in the hole but won't stay there and the hook doesn't appear to be broken. :cool:

Hanger

I've had the same problem(with the hook). Insert a small screwdriver into the tip of of the hook and pry, the inner part of the hook will slide up and release the catches, now put it (the hanger) back in the hole, push up and it should lock in place. bg

Garment Hook failure poll?

I got two words for you man, Roadside Assistance!

No garment hook, how uncivilized, I can only imagine your shame.

Great, just wait till the Ford forum hears about this, they'll be dissin' us bad for sure.

I suppose now we'll have to start a Garment Hook Failure poll in order to quantify the failure rate potential, things like:

* interior color

* cab style

* assembled in US, Mexico or Canada

thanks guys, it's really comforting to know you share my pain and embarassment. since it's only 92 f outside I'll wander out and try to validate the repair assessment.

oh the shame. please no one tell the wife !!;)

first of all, it's 103 f outside in the parking lot.

second, the hook is broken. when I was able to open it cracks were visible on the base of the pins that fit into the hole. sooo, it wouldn't hold once re-inserted.

thanks for the help, and now, it's off to the dealership for a new one.

Hey my hook fell out of my 98 the other day & i dont know what im going to do. I sure cant drive it like that it looks like hell. I think i will just sell this truck as shes startin to nickle & dime me to death. First it was the starter contacts now the hook whats next. :D . Ya gotta love a good laugh. Kurt.

Coat hook

Now if you wanted to bomb the hook, that hole is big where it fits, I think you could put in a 5/8" toggle bolt and you could hang a hog on it. bg:rolleyes:

I think its time for the Mechanical Engineers to step forward, and design a KGH (Killer Garment Hook) Jig so this problem doesn't happen to the rest of us.

thanks guys and especially WILLYSLOVER's offer. A new hook is actually almost as cheap as the postage so I'll go help out the dealers bottom line and they have two in stock. This has been a fun chain. Guess we all need some stress relief... .

Good to see the membership has come through once again!

I'll bet your TDR membership more than made up the difference in the price of the garment hook from the **ealer?

:D :D Oo. :p :D :)
