It pulled a house down, literally!

On Saturday I helped our church group tear down an old trailer and the additions built on it. The trailer had a bedroom added to the back and a living area on the front. They even built a roof over the trailer for additional coverage.

I started on a back corner where I was assigned to cut down a wall section and the corner posts with the sawzall. I was happy to get to tear something apart and not get in trouble for it! What else could a guy want for a fun Saturday? Anyway, the guys working on the other end started to pull sections down with a 2WD pick up. It just wasn’t working so I offered my snatch strap and chains and tried to help them find a strong anchor point on the truck. That wasn’t working either so I offered up the use of Cummins power. I was kinda done cutting on the back corner from this point on.

With a solid connection in the pintle hitch, the chain and strap connected to the ramshackle trailer, it was time to have fun. A few good solid jerks later, that end of the trailer was removed and in the dumpster. We had something going now, Cummins power and momentum. I put the truck on the other end of this shack and reconnected. Another series of pulls and the back room addition was lying on the ground. It just became a lot of fun after this section. We pulled the roof sections apart and then off came the front addition.

After most of the vertical stuff was horizontal and headed for the dumpster they wanted to see what was under the trailer frame. Pointing to the original trailer frame and floor Howard asked me, “Can we move this part and see what is underneath?” I don’t think he could have asked anything else and made me any happier to oblige. “Sure we can” I replied. I found a cross member near the back of the frame and connected the chains. This was easy to move off the foundation. It just slid right off.

I just wanted to let you know how much fun I had this weekend and how happy it made me to be able to help others. Being able to use the truck was added enjoyment. This thing really can pull down a house!

:D

I had fun last spring. . I was going home (in E TX) in the rain hauling about 16K. I lived on a dirt road. the Fed-ex guy had a 16ft van off in the ditch.

so, there I am w/the mighty cummins and a 20ft 16k trailer(bumper pull of course) and a chain. Dropped the mule into 4lo hooked up the chain and off we went. . the whole neighborhood showed up to watch (the couldn't get around us). I sure was proud pulling that FORD out of the ditch:D:D:D:D

But a good barn leveling is a blast;):)

Here's an old repost of some demo work I did with my truck last year :)

Had to tear down a shed that was falling apart today, seemed like a perfect opportunity to play with the truck #ad
!! Demo sure is fun! I needed to get out a little aggression after talking with the fuel supplier on the phone today ( https://www.turbodieselregister.com/ubb//Forum5/HTML/001162.html ). Honestly though, using the sledge to punch holes through the walls for the chain was better therapy - I just imagined that shmucks face right where I was aiming for!

Watched a program about demolition on TV, they said it was polled as the most satisfying job in the US. I can see why, if you liked doing it with your truck you'd love doing it with an excavator.

I was cleaning up the punch list on a big new spec. home here in L. A. last year and the very last thing was they wanted the temp. power poles taken out. Each was an 8X8 Doug fir. sticking up about 25 feet. I had no easy way to pull them up, so I hitched up a tow strap to them and rocked each one over until I heard a big "CRACK". Then I pulled from the opposite direction. They both snapped off below grade, saving me a lot of trouble. :D

The truck didn't even strain.

Cummins Rules!!!

A few months ago I was volunteering for make-a-difference day and the old lady asked me to pull out her very old, overgrown hedges with my truck. I had never tried this before. I figured I'd give it a try and if it works, I'll do the same at my house (my wife cannot stand the hedges) Well, The Cummins had No problem yanking the hedges out. I am now sure that I could pull a house off the foundation, if given the opportunity. Any volunteers????

Yaaaaa Babbby - I love lawn and garden work using the Ram as the power tool - Who needs a shovel or a Stihl when you got a Cummins and chain :D :D :D
