Back !!

It's a day to remember for the rest of my life No more little car's that go fast time to put my mind back onto my crewcab build

Glad you had minor injuries. I don't know what year your bug was,but the efi ones used to burn down all the time due to rubber fuel hoses. Hitler's Revenge:)

It was a 67 but nothing was stock it had dual carb's with -6 fuel line stainless steel braided ran underside of car had a total of 187 hp at the wheel's it was fun while it lasted I have built it over the last 8 yr's

Glad you're OK. Too bad about the old VW those are a unique buggy to lots of guys. Maybe another one will come along.

Scarrier part, I've been through V-Ville on my travels out that a way.

well it lived a good life but my vw day's are done what I can save will go onto my son's car I am going to put my heart n soul into my crewcab build and stay away from little car's

Well I found out what happened or what caused this . It was due to a flywheel exploding and destroying my aux oil cooler that started the fire there is 1 small chunk of the flywheel left .

Glad to hear you're OK. I had a number of bugs in the seventies. I was poor, they were cheap and easy to work on. One thing I always did was put hose clamps on the fuel line between the fuel pump and carb. They'd come from the factory with just a friction fit on a pressurized fuel line. After a while they'd dry out, slip off, and pump the engine compartment full of gas. Guess it was the German method of built in obsolescence. Another thing that scared me was the heating system - running a housing around the exhaust pipe. Those Germans knew a thing or two about killing people with carbon monoxide.

Well this whole car was hand built by me had Stainless steel fuel line run under the car All the full flow oil lines were -8 Stainless steel lines It was safe enough I have even run it down the 1/4 mile before . But what caused the fire was a shattering flywheel at 5500 rpm's blew transmission top off and went through my Ext oil cooler n fan hot oil hitting the exhaust and it went Boom
