Went to look at a truck . It's a 90 W-250 727 250k std. cab, clean & straight. He wants around 5k. Drove, stopped and turned fine but at idle it vibrates, not like my 89ctd but like a COE w/855. I looked at all three mnts. , to see if the exaust was riding the cab, got down by the rock guard to hear the converter, checked interior screws, everything seems ok. I've only driven mine and a friends ctd, they seem like /6's next to this, any input, or things to look at regarding w/fwd appreciated, it's my first.

I had a 92 that would vibrate like an old BCIII. didnt seem to hurt anything- got 22mpg empty/ 16 towing. Not sure what it was- had a new pump and injectors, and it still did it. I'd say if it runs fine, and doesnt smoke too bad, go for it.

I have some CTD here that vviibbrraattee something awful! Seems to be speed/cold weather related.

Like to shake the dash apart.

The vibration dampener can wear out. I have not looked close at one from our "B" models, but all I have seen have a timing mark on them. If these marks are off, it's shot.

Shaky Cummins

We have installed more than 600 new cummins. Some fours and some sixes. Box stock and straight from the factory, some are smoother than others.

The smoothest seem to be the strongest. I have often wanted to snitch one of the nice ones for my truck. I don't know what standard or limit that Cummins uses to determine a reject but like all manufacturing, sometimes the lemons line up and one is better than the others.

My brother-in-law has a 93 with automatic that has a shake. I sort of thought it was the converter. It is only noticeable at idle speed. Not sure that any of this applies to the truck in question. But shaking like a 855. Hummm. 250k Hummm. 5$$$ Hummm

There are several trucks on the classified that are similar money. I would look around a little more, kick a few more tires. All other things equal, I would go an extra 500 maybe a grand for smooth.

No offense to anyone but I would not purchase anything older than the 91. 5 that came from the factory with the intercooler.

They also did some upgrades to the oiling at that time.

Find a stock one and install the 16cm turbo housing hot side and you got your self a ride.

Points well taken. The 3. 07's at each end after what I'm going thru w/my 89 did'nt float my boat either. Clean D-cabs can be hard to find for sale but I'd push a DeSoto before I'd defect. Along with the 426H this has to be the best motor ever put in a Chrysler product.

I have a 1993 CTD that came back vbrating after the clutch was changed. Seems like one of the bolts that held the pressure plate in place had broken/was twisted off. Once this was fixed, the vibe disappeared.
