Well, Might as well post some pics

80's model chevy conv Q's??

I bought the truck and engine back in 2006 and on March 17th, my conversion finally began. One shop is doing the engine swap itself and my buddy Jon will be doing the plumbing and electrical work in his shop. It would have been at my buddy's shop Friday but one of the motor mount plates was too small so the shop had to fab another. I was kind of surprised they didn't take the front end off to do the swap but they got the PSD out fine with it intact but they ran into a snag when they tried to put the Cummins in with the front end on - it couldn't get past the core support. So, hopefully Monday or Tuesday it'll be at my buddy's house for the rest of the job.

Here's the website I've started for it with photos and descriptions of the work so far and a parts list page.

Glad to see you are finally able to get the swap started. Getting started on my swap has taken way longer than I wanted to, but I have almost all the parts. Now if I could just get into my buddies shop... Shadrach

Thanks. Got word the engine is in and will be at my friend's house tomorrow. The shop owner has been working on it and taking lots of pics and will make me a disc which I'll have hopefully in the next day or two to add to the website. :D

Glad to see you are underway:)

The engine looks beautiful! I would like to take a look when you are finished. My buddy just finished his 73 Ford conversion, it turned out nice too. They are getting popular in this neck of the woods.

Sure. I'm on 12-hour shifts until Saturday but I have new pics to post on the website and the intercooler was installed. It hangs down 2-3 inches but not below the crankcase so I'm going to have a custom cover to built to protect the bottom and front of it. Its a tight squeeze so we're going with two 12-inch e-fans. I'll post when I've updated the site. I just worked over 12 hours, may get called in midnight and still have to start another 12-hour shift at 6 am. :D

The engine runs like a top but my transmission took a crap so I'm having it rebuilt to 500hp. Hopefully I will get it back next - I can't wait to drive it!

Ford conversion spotted.

My wife and I were returning from camping, when I spotted a crewcab older "square" Ford F-350 coming up on my left side. As it got closer we could here the unmistakable sound of a 12-valve Cummins. He shot me a glance and I replied with a thumbs up. Stomping on it produced a pretty good cloud and that sucker flat out tore off. Nice combo with the Ford body with wind wings(why did everybody delete these?) and the superior Cummins powerplant.

Before my trans crapped, we were testing the parameters of the PCS controller and took it out on the road and I think a guy in a newer Cummins just about broke his neck when we drove by! Its amazing how quiet the new trucks that you could hear the difference. :)

She's Home

The truck is finally home! Both engine and transmission feel nice and strong now but the engine feels kind of lethargic. She doesn't have any giddyup (at all, especially before she gets to running temp. ) - I have to put the pedal to the floor. The transmission controller needs some fine tuning (searches between 35-40 mph).

I bought a valve cover from Geno's garage so I can pull off the Dodge cover - very nice product (candy apple red!). I also had custom badges made by Billet Badges.com. Pretty sweet. I'm gonna pull off the stock running boards and camper bar this weekend too. :D

I'm finally ready for GTG for those of you around the area. Let me know when and where! :)

I haven't forgotten about ya DVolk. My buddy said he has pics of the mounted e-fans. When I get them, I'll let you know!
