I got home tonite from my oldest boy's baseball game and there is a box from PDR  :D

All I have done to this point is open it and check it out. Man this thing is big!!!:--)

It will be on tomorrow nite and the fun will begin.

Any time there is a box from Piers it's Christmas time at my house...

Thanks Piers

ITS ON!!!!!!

It is on and the only words that come to mind is WOOOOOOW... .

Piers has got another WINNER here!!!!! :D

It is truly a bolt on like his HX-40 no mods where need for the oil return or the exhaust matched up perfectly. The intake side had to be rotated down about 5 deg, although the elbow could have been turned in the hose.

Now for the good stuff... .

It starts making boost at 1600 RPMs and once it comes on hang-on!!!! The boost takes off like a rocket(I'm going to suggest to Piers to call it the HX-55 Rocket) I am still in the break in phase right now but once tonite it hit 50 PSI at only 3/4 throttle.

EGTs cruising down the freeway(70MPH) are maybe 25 deg higher than the PDR HX-40 was this morning going to work. The boost cruising a freeway speeds is right at the same level as the PDR HX-40.

The EGTs seem to rise faster then stop and drop as the boost get higher. On the on ramp heading home tonite at only 3/4 throttle I entered the freeway at 3/4 throttle and only 1200 deg and 5 MPH faster than normal. At 3/4 throttle my seat of the pants meter tell me that there is more now than before at full throttle.

On the down side...

My top end smoke is gone:( the lazer cut delivery valve should solve this.

The rear tires are going to hate this turbo:rolleyes:

Thank goodness for Piers giving us junkies the products that keep us in our evering ending quest for for more and more HP.

THANK YOU PIERS for another great product!!!!!!!

Just a piece of advise from first hand viewing... ... I wouldn't push that turbo past 55PSI, had a buddy in KY HUFF his new HX55 @ 58PSI... when asked he said Piers recommended no more than 55PSI but he didn't think 3PSI would make a difference.

The holes in his hood, cowl, and passenger inner fenderwell tell otherwise:eek:

Now I want to wait to see if anybody blows their head gasket with this new turbo - those without o-ringing anyway... . That's my only fear at this point, since he is working on wastegated housings for the new rocket turbo ;) me want me want me want me want ... ..... Oo. Oo. Oo.

Now why did you have to bring up this HEAD Gasket stuff. Yes it is one of my worries:( .

Blair the more I drive it the better I like it. It is a ROCKET!!!!!

So far no problems with my stock head gasket running 55psi with my single, I am also still throwing a little propane at it until my new PDR pump arrives.

Don't sweat the stock headgasket too much, mine had 106K on it and I've been running 60 PSI for just short of 8K and it was doing fine till I was testing some stuff at 67 PSI the it let go, it was fine till about the 6th hard run then it would blow air into the radiator. I tore it down tonight and it was #5 cyl and blew to the pass side forward to that water jacket.

It's broke in!!!!

I got it broke in today and had some fun finally at full throttle:D

Here some more info.....

from a stop in 2nd gear boost was 48psi before shifting, tires where hating life!!!

in third I saw 52psi before the shift, in 4th if went to 55psi shifted at 100 MPH and in 5th pushed the peddle to 56 PSI!!!! only got to approx 7/8th throttle. It looks like at least a 150 deg cooler EGTs than the HX-40 at full throttle. Normally in 4th at full throttle the gauge is barried, it was under 1400 when I shifted.

I can't believe how fast this thing spools once boost comes on, I am having to learn to drive the truck all over again. It seems freer and I have to really watch the speed when driving on the freeway.

The only way I can think to discribe the improvement is it is about the same increase in performance as I got going from the #12 plate(230hp/605t) to the #11 plate (280hp/685t).

Next I'm going to adjust the AFC richer and see how fast I can get it to come on.

Piers has done it again!!!!Oo. Oo. Oo.
