Seems that the Furd PowerJoke is having it's own anoying problem like are lift/transfer pumps.
The GlowPlug relays are going bad and causing hard starting issues. I have had 2 friends with this problem and my brotherinlaw that works in an International shop has replaced several of them also. He says that the problem is usually misdiagnosed as bad glowplugs, and shops are charging people for glowplugs and a new relay when alls they need is the new $58 relay.
If you have a PowerJoke and are having problems with it starting this is most likely the problem, you can check the relay with an ohm meter also.
Believe me those Furds are hard to start without the glowplugs to. My good friend Richard just bought a used 97 PowerJoke and we couldn't start it for nothing Monday morning. (boy did he get the should have bought a Dodge speach
) Finally cranked and cranked on it and it fired but man did it spit out the black smoke and sputter for about 5 minutes. I checked the relay and shure enough it was open and not working. We put the new relay on tonight and she fired right up with no problem.
The problem seems to be hit and miss like the lift/transfer pumps on are trucks. Some truck are having problems with just a few miles on them and others are running for ever with out the problem. Hopefuly this will save some members and some of your good budds some money and lots of hard thinking.
