Guess the truck is a POS now so I should sell it!

Here's what happened over the 100,000 miles for you worried about "high mileage vehicles"

1. Rear axle went out @ 22k miles... warranty replaced it

2. Lift pump at 45k miles (?... can't remember... too long ago)

3. VP44 @ 80k... dealer warrantied, but said my pusher pump made the old one fail so it had to go or the truck's warranty was bunk. (It's still on there and I haven't had any more warranty work since).

4. EZ went on @ 40k miles, DDIIs @ 65k miles... no harm done to truck.

5. Avg MPG 14. 5. Just started getting 15 + mpg last week... yeah old motors!

Overall impressions... good truck, shoulda got a 3/4 ton.

I feel for yah! :D Mine is on the edge of going over the 100,000 mile mark. I figured I might as well get my new 03 also since I the Cummins is probably ready to fall apart. :-laf All jokes aside, I love to tell people I have just broken mine in then they ask how many miles I have and I tell them 95,000.

I'm just coming to think that a person will save him/her self a ton of grief if he just decides not to buy a truck with less than 100,000 miles. By then you can tell if it's gonna' be a good one.

With 100,000 miles you should think about freshening the engine. New rings, rod and main bearings are a good place to start. :-laf

HEMI-

maybe I should change the oil for the first time. Maybe while I'm at it, I'll change the fuel filter too... naw... too hard.

100k++++

Wow I am gonna turn 200k in a month or so... ... Hehehe Maybe I should try some mods... Na not yet maybe after 500k. On my last trip got a new injection pump :{ went from 18 mpg before to 22+ after???? Same style of driving.

AZC... Sounds like it time to "freshen up" the engine... . Up to a Comp and some DDIII... :D :D

(Hard to beat what U got for towing. . or anything else... hehe. )

tractornut-

the sad thing is 95% of the time, I'm just driving my truck around! The other 5%, I'm hauling a single jet ski (600#) or my ski boat (3000#). I figure my truck will last forever b/c I'm under using it so much!

I have do say that I do about the same. . but when I do hook up the trailer. . I usually have 1 or 2 tractors loaded... I guess that's why I like the Comp box. . flexability. . from inside the cab... Sure wish I had the DDII like you. . (Someday. ) I think you have more "Usable" power... with the set up U have... .

Only 90,000 on my 2001. 5. .

Clock spring at about 700 miles

1 Exhaust bolt and spacer @10K (TSB added))

Center U joint @ about 85K

Tailhousing seal @ about 85K

Set of tires @ about 54,K :D

Comp Box @ about 34K (Tires seemed to wear much quicker that last 20K :D )

One speaker has quit on the drivers side

But I am very happy over all with the truck...

Boy now I"m really starting to feel better about my "high mileage" truck. I just bought mine and it turned over 140k this weekend. Fuel economy going south was a little over 16 and I got 17 on my way back. I'm hoping it will keep going up. I would hate to ahve to add something to the mototr to get better mileage (like DDII's or a box);) . Looking forward to many more miles of :D .

Come on guys!!! Some of you think that turning 100,000 is a big deal. not really on the CTD. I have 180,000 miles, and the new smell is just wearing off (well , not really, but you know what I mean). Mine is just now starting to get better fuel mileage. So what that I have replaced a few lift pumps, and a few dozen sets of disc brake pads, other than that, this has been a very reliable and economical vehicle for my business.

hmm. I don't think you quite caught the sarcasm in our posts. We agree these are awesome trucks. Most of us are joking about them having high miles.

Hey azcummins saw your dyno

azcummins,

Saw your pics of the dyno run, I am in Fort Collins also, and was wondering if you know of a local place for a dyno?

Now on my 3rd CTD and want to set a base line prior to any mods. Let me know or email me at -- email address removed --

Thanks!!
