Friend of mine just sold his 95 2wd, 5spd normal cab, long bed for $7500. It had about 140k miles on in it and had a Banks system, 3 piece exhaust manifold, gauges, etc. Blue book was around $4k.

I'm contemplating buying a gasser 3/4T or 1/2T QCLB or dually (4x4) that has a good, clean body/frame, and swapping my diesel drivetrain to it. If I find a 1/2T, I'll swap all suspension as well. That's about the only way I'll get a clean QC truck, inexpensively...

Its got a block heater and a cummins badge on the door. Also according to the vin, its a 24 valve. In 98, the 8th digit was "6" for a 24 valve and "D" for a 12 valve.

Thanks F David
I thought it was me and I was losing my brain
The Cummins Badge from the picture i posted was a give away to me, But I did not have the knowledge to identify the VIN. F David thank you very much for clarifying that It was a diesel and how many valves. I learned something new Today, just goes to show you CAN teach a Old dog new tricks

My 98 CLUB cab Gasser 360 V8 5. 9 liter does not have the diesel badge on the side. because it is a gasser

YES I HAVE a BROWN 98 CLUB GASSER that DOES NOT have diesel Badges AND, I HAVE A 99 DODGE DIESEL QUAD CAB that DOES have diesel badges, because it has a diesel Engine, I might know the difference.

and YES GRIZZLY I read the SHEET attached to the craigslist AD BUT the Diesel Badges Kinda told me that there might have been a mistake there. Thank god that VIN numbers speak the truth

and again thank somebody who i do not know that I am not the idiot i thought I was for a moment there, not knowing the difference between a diesel and a gasser! "Whew" there is hope for me yet.

Now if I would just get rid of my Junky low rent Forest river fifth wheel. I might be taken seriously. but what the heck do i know

Have a Wounderful day

Chris

Looks like I ruffled some feathers, which I didn't intend to do, I just read what I saw, Gas V8 5. 9L/360. I too saw the badge on the door, but I couldn't read whether it said Cummins Turbo Diesel or V8 Magnum. Gas engine do have a badge on the door that from a distance looks simular.

Also, I never said that your Forest River is junky. You asked me how your trailer rated and I only said what my RV Consumer Group guide said.

Have a good day, george

Good morning, I traded my 95 auto for a 98 stick. It took some time to find one once I committed to the upgrade. Found mine in Indiana Jan 09. Flew out from Seattle on friday, met the gentleman at the airport, and enjoyed the scenery to make it home on Sunday. Had a lot of fun, now I'm upgrading as I go. Take care!

I have been considering selling my 98 12v QC 4x4 with NV5600 and 241 DHD transfer case. It has 192xxx on it and good condition. Its hard to figure what is a fair price for it cause not too many around. Any ideas? Thanks.

Kelley Blue Book says that if it's a 2500 SLT in excellent condition it's worth $8,955. I'd start at $9,500 OBO.

The Original Poster (OP) on this thread, by the name of VHolloway, is looking for a 12V standard shift.

Absolutely. I have a 98 12 valve with 13,000 miles on a rebuilt engine. It has a total of 131K on the truck. The front end from steering box to tie rods completely replace, plus all fuel lines and gas tanks. The guy I bought it from just had too much money I guess. Everything the dealer said was wrong the guy had replaced. Paid a premium a while back but better than 60K for a new one. Just bought a 98 12v motor and transmission 4X4 with 88k miles out of a roll over for $1,000 with everything. So I guess I'm set for life.

I'll keep mine too!

My 97 just rolled over 100K this weekend. It is a cream puff and I love it! I'll never sell it, but I'll always enjoy it.

Good hunting!

I was just considering what I'd sell mine for. My time wrenching on this truck to get all the little (and big) quirks worked out has become substantial. Plus replacement parts, etc. They say everyone has a price and so do I, but I doubt I would mention it so as not to insult the interested party. My truck is nothing special, but it's special to me. They don't make 'em like this anymore... .

The only way I'd even consider selling mine is if I found a diesel jeep cherokee for a reasonable price.

I may even go for one of those MB powered diesel vans.

Short of that I do not forsee me parting with mine.

Bought it new in dec 1997. I'm happy with it.
