Well it's been a long bumpy, blooding, bruising and battering road but I made it back from the Ford (Found On the Road Dead) camp. What happened was in Nov/Dec of 2002 I threw a fit (do that often) because the kid’s car seats wouldn’t fit in my 01 QC and Dodge had just announced they were not revising the "crew cab" from the new 1500’s and were using those on the new 2500/3500 trucks with the new engine. I promptly (3 weeks later) sold the Dodge and bought a Ford Excursion with the 7. 3 powerstroke (yes, I'm mental). I wont belittle myself (lying, I do it all the time) and sink to insulting the Fords (yeah, right. they ARE total junk) I'll just tell you this. I owned that thing for 20 months, it had half the power my Dodge did, (even with an 80HP chip) it went through two crankshaft position sensors in 44K miles, it had (they all do) this turbo surge/stall problem anytime you tried to run more than 15lbs of boost pulling a load and handled about like a canoe full of water (think happy thoughts, Todd).

Anyway, last month we traded that fine representation of a polished turd (I'm holding back, trust me!) for a new 05 Dodge Magnum (yeah, its got a Hemi). I literally asked them to not park it next to my new car; I didn’t want the smell to get on the Magnum. I gotta say, “we love it”.

That left me with two family cars and no truck (sold the 96 Impala SS two weeks ago). Well, last Friday I flew to Texas and drove back another 01 quad cab. I purposely bought this truck in a 2wd, 5spd so I can take it and go play. I plan to get a little ignorant in the HP department on this truck. I left off with 367hp/1080tq on the last truck and plan for the 500hp mark on this one. I have a new VP44 in the mail. Once that’s on, IT’S on!

Don’t bother welcoming me back; I wasn’t really gone in spirit. Having owned four Dodge/Cummins trucks I knew the Cummins was the best engine, just didn’t realize I couldn’t live without it until it was too late. I spent a fortune just trying to get away from that ford and back into a real truck.

you will have to pry my cold dead hands off this truck cause it aint going nowhere! :-laf

It's OK to admit you were F-ed Outta Real Dollars

Since you are back to Darned Ol Dodge Goes Everywhere, we know you aren't one of those F-n Owner's Really Dumb

:D

I did something similarly dumb. Bought a 98 12v and realized in a couple years I needed a quad cab. Bought a 02 quad and realized in a couple years I needed a 3500 quad cab. Oh well, you know what they say about a fool and his money. Or at least my wife sez it. :-laf At least they were CTDs

Fass, or RASP, Cam, Head, O-rings, Studs, ECM, COMP, SuperChip, some EDM's, and the transmission, and you'll be good to go again! :-laf

I'm betting I can put down atleast 475RWHP on a stock as a rock OE turbo.

(Hold my beer and watch this!)

Glad you saw the light... ;) Atleast Cam sensors are cheaper than VP44's !

Todd,

See the thread in the 2nd gen no engine and the thread saying no truck for 2 months, and... and see what you see in a pic there... .

Yeah Jetson the crewcab idea was in there for a while too. I actually bought a single cab truck and held on to it for about 6 months. but three little kids under the age of four prevented me from having the time work on it. in my sleepless daze i thought the Excursion would solve all my problems. Man was I wrong :D

I like the REAL crew cab in that post. Mark does awesome work. i actually took a trip up to his shop and talked with him a bit. i tried to get him to sell me the essential parts needed for me to do the work myself. He wouldn't bite though.

we're goin-a-racin with this truck the kids will just have to buck up and sqeeze in :D

Hey Merrick hows that JB weld holding on the your cracked transmission. you think it will hold the 475 longer than the HX will? who's taking bets?... . (hold my money, while i watch this) LOL

Welcom back there Mr. Todd. I gotta truck that you might recognize. She's runnin great. A little tweakin here and there and I'll be comin after Joe Donnelly :D Good to have ya back. See ya soon.

The JB held until I got the wonderfull idea to put it in 4wd again...

Being that the HX is only seeing 35+PSI on the dyno, should help it live alot longer. I'm only running it to 25-30PSI on the street.

Shortly after the t-case gave out (I broke it? Me break something? :-laf ),, the motor took it's worn bearings, bent rods, and exited stage left.
