I've got a new one

I have a 99 4x4 with a 5spd and my adjustable cup holder broke. :mad: It now does nothing except make an anoing rattling noise. :( Has anyone else had this happen yet or am I the first one. :{

My next question is: Has anyone replaced or took out the floor console on a truck like mine:confused: How does it come out and if you replaced it how much did it cost:(

Now were am I going to put my glass of tea#@$%!

Thanks

Darrell, the rubber linings in the bottom of the cupholders can be pried out. There's screw heads under there, that secure the whole thing. I wouldn't normally know that myself, except the stupid thing has to come out so you can remove the gearshift and drop the transmission for a new clutch.

Ah ha

Thanks Briar, I'm going to stop by the dealer on my way home from work in the morning and see how much that baby is going to cost me. :{ Might as well spend more money, I just spent $336 to renue my tags so why not another couple more hundred. :(

You also have to pull the shift boot for the 4wd lever out to get to the screws under it, and for the main shift lever as well. They are not phillips or flat head, they are a 3/8 sochet I think. I shattered the center hub on the 99 (see sig) 2 weeks ago and I did the clutch change in my slanted driveway:mad: :{ a real PITA.

You win !!!! :eek:

The first adj. cup holder to fail:{:

Dang and I thought they were the only thing on the truck I didn't have to worry about. .

What was the cup count at failure???? :rolleyes:

The first to fail? Beg pardon, guys, but mine broke when the truck hit 36,600 miles... . 600 miles out of warranty, which was nearly a year ago. Darrell wins the honor of being first to report his . :D Unless somebody else reported a broken cupholder... .

I reported mine to a fellow member over the phone, Does this count as the first? I want to have at least one first with this truck. My holder in my auto had the hinge/support let go while holding a full cup of ice water, slingshoted the cold stuff all over the truck. After months of using the inside of my legs as a cup holder I decided to see how much the dealer wanted. $92. 00 was the final gouging I took :--) . So for that much cash do I get the honors of being first. Cup Smoothie on the way for backup just in case. ;) ;) ;)

Fixed it

Guys, got it all put together today. The dealer had to order the hole floor console,:( you can't buyjust the cup holder. I paid $110 for the thing :eek: but it did come with new rubber boots for the shift levers. :rolleyes: I put them in the tool box for future use. ;) Took about 30 minutes or so to do the install, pretty easy really.

But wait!

If I'm not the first to have a broken cup holder how about the sunglasses holder in the overhead concole. :eek: Yep that's right the latch broke about a month ago and I fixed it today to $12 for a new one. :)

Even when stuff brakes I still like working on my truck. :D
