Competition Who's coming out to the DHRA hook in Gaston tomorrow?

J&H is putting on a all-round competition and we are trying to put the rules together. Please give your opinions on what you think a fair set of rules would be. The events will be dyno, pull and drag. A few things to keep in mind is this will all have to take place on the same day at the same place and there also will be other trucks pullin, racing and dynoing that are not in the all-round comp. With that in mind time is a issue so we are trying to decide what to do about the pull without making a seperate class as there already will be the normal 3 classes. If we can get enough trucks to enter the all-round then maybe they will forget about the other pulls. How many of you guys would for sure enter the all-round. One other thing they are going to work on is seeing if the winner can get a place in this years Diesel Power Challange. :rockwoot: So lets here your input.

seeing how there's different classes for pulling and racing maybe there should be different classes for the all around--stock--modified & super---just a thought--I'll think on it some more----chris

Yeah I got an idea:

Run what ya brung 8000lbs, no drugs.....

And a stock turbo class for the beginners.

There is no time for more than 1 class. Do you think you should be able to change weight for diffrent events or tires. I like the no drugs idea.

Well you probably dont want guys running down the drag strip with 500 lbs of tractor weights hanging off the front end.

Yeah why not let'em change tires.

Just do an abbreviated version of the DP challenge, no weight changes or tire changes, ask for entries prior to the event and have the J&H guys pick from the applications submitted. If your gonna offer the winner a seat in the '08 DP Challenge, then run your event like the DPC.

What did you mean in your first post about "forget about the other pulls" ?????

you're not getting what I'm saying---first off there's different classes for all events--pulling and racing and dynoing---this doesn't interfere with the amount of time---so you assign points to the finish order--but points are only given to those who've entered the whole shebang--you total up the points at the end of the day and see who has the most--you have a winner---in case of a tie --well we need to work on that----chris

or you assign points on a scale for all events--guy with the most wins--probably the easiest way to do it---say you get a point for the distance you pull --300' = 300 points---you dyno 575 you get 575 points and you'll need to reverse scale the 1/4 mile times, but I'd say the fastest time gets 100 points and then the next fastest gets 99 points and so on down the line-----chris

I was just thinking if they had a ton of entrys in the all round maybe they would not run the other classes of pulls. They have not said that I was just thinking out loud.

I can of like chris's idea about classes but I think the all around should be the top dogs but I will suggest it.

my suggestion will work as the souped up trucks will take it on the dyno and race, but if the sled was set at one setting for all pullers then the chances of a tie would be extremely unlikely---you could still have pull classes and class winners--now that I think of this a little more the points should start at 300 for the fastest race time and then go down from there----chris

Winning this event is not an official invite to DPC, but might look good on your application The tough truck competition will be the best score in Dyno, Drag strip E. T. and truck sled pull. THERE WILL BE NO AVERAGES IN CATAGORIES, BEST SCORE WINS. If your truck is in a class that adds weight then you have the option to pull in two, but the unweighted pull is the only one that counts for the tough truck comp. There will be no tire changes or weight changes for the dyno, drags or pulls and truck has to be driven by the driver on the tech card. The drag race E. T. will be scored during Saturday's time trials only. If there is test and tune on Friday it will not count. NOTE (Stick shift trucks will get a one second handicap, but must have an O. E. M. trans. ) The Dyno score will have no restrications for additives, turbos etc. and scores from Friday and Saturday will count It is highly recommended that competitors keep their Dyno sheets and E. T. time slips in case of a protest or mistake in scoring. The tough truck official will have final say on scoring or competing and may hold a drivers meeting for a vote on decision. All trucks must be street legal, These are just preliminary, rough draft rules and may be revised as we get closer to the event
