I would like your thoughts regarding the value of the H pkg over the J pkg. For me I wanted to get the power passenger seat for my wife with heat, the power seat is only comes with the H pkg. Anyone have a passenger power seat? Please your advice,

Thanks

I got a J package because I refuse to have a 4wd dash shifter. I still got the heated leather. Pretty much a cowboy Cadilac.

I think it kinda sucks that you can't get the nice sound system or dual zone climate control with the floor shift 4wd. I think that is BS.....

Without the J package I would have got an SLT though. I wouldn't give up my floor shifter for anything... but other than that I maxed out the options pretty much with the J package.

I was really hesitant about getting a electronic switch for the 4WD because of my dad's ferd exploder. It always had problems engaging and always made a loud thump, not to mention that the 4WD service light always came on for no reason. :{ :{ :{ But I can honestly say that my truck does nothing like this at all, it always engages smoothly and quietly. Have not had any problems with it and I can proudly say that I have no fear of being stuck because of the electronic switch. :D :D :D I also have the power passenger seat with the heated option and got to say its very nice to have. My girlfriend loves it and that makes me happy because she is always saying "Lets take the truck" when its cold. :-laf :-laf I didn't order my truck but found it on the lot after lots of searching so I am assuming I have the H pkg. I think that you'll be happy and your wife will too! Corey

abdiver, the powerseats are really nice, so are the heated seats. Haven't had any problems with the 4WD shifter.

I had a GMC (before my brain fully developed) with the electronic shifter and had lots of problems with it.

But, like CoreyCunningham stated above, it works flawlessly on the Dodge: quietly and smoothly. I use it a lot. and wouldn't be without it. I like having the extra floorspace the electronic version provides, too.

I love the seats especially when it's cold! Turn the heater on, go back in the house and let the seat warm up. Sure takes the bite out of a cold truck. No problems with anything so far but I only have 10K miles.

i want heated seats, but i don't want leather or electric shift 4x4... so i went with slt on mine... i guess i need to add aftermarket heated seat pads...

I have found cloth to be inherently warmer seeming and less slippery than leather, and if you ever put a screwdriver into your hip pocket, you will hate what it does when you jump into the truck to start or move it. My main attraction to power seats was the storage pocket in the seat bottom. Well, I found an SLT on the lot, and got it at a good price. So, I have manual cloth seats and only the seat back storage pod. For me the driving force was keeping the cost reasonable. $30k or so = buy a new truck; $40k = wait another year or two. I wanted a new 2004 and was glad to find one with only the essential options on the lot (Saitta-Trudeau Dodge in Pahrump, NV, where we will go for one evening during May Madness, by the way). I kind of like the manual transfer case shifter anyway. Positive and fail-proof.

It all comes down to a personal decision whether ordering or looking on the lot. Best wishes with yours.

If I had it to do over agin I would not buy the Laramie at all. I have the high end package and I would buy an SLT and ahve the dealer inhstallled leather seats and heaters I think is called the Bighorn option, has real leather front and rear not just real leather in front and pleather in the rear. Plus the quality far excedes the factory leather seats. Blame myself for wasting 6K on options like the lame *** Infinity stero system, and the navagation system is aral joke. Save your money and install good seats with heaters and stereo syatem aftermarket.
