Anybody running this turbo around here? I want to upgrade to Mach 3 injectors and need a turbo to go along with it. The more I search the forums the more confused I get. I was leaning towards a B-1 untill I read about a surging problem with some combos. I also need something wastegated to around 40psi to keep the headgasket in place. Too many choices, Dodgezilla, DD Jammer, BD is coming out with a new turbo. HELP!

i posted over on the DTR and got maybe 10 replies and pms from people who really loved JR's 55 ... . should be ordering one within the month

I'm running one with a set of mach 4's. I drive the truck everyday and I am very satisfied with it. It has some lag, but I also have a auto with large tires. The lag is not bad at all IMO for a charger this size. Once it builds boost, hang on it makes some power! I think it is a great charger for trucks that have major fuel, but want to stay with a single charger. --Dave

I am running the smallest version of JR's 55. I've put almost 7000 miles on it so far. We set the wastegate at 40psi on the bench, on the street I hit about 44psi. I drive my truck on a daily basis. dlange is right about about hanging on, once mine is at about 10psi its like a rocket up to 44psi. The spool up is not bad for where it puts you on the top end. I have run with all Comp settings with little concern about the lag when empty. I think you would be able to spool it with mach 3s with out to much trouble.

I agree with Ryan. I thing with the edge comp and the mach 3's you would have a good combination. Definately a good choice of parts. And you can keep your boost down like you want too.

How are ya' Ryan?:)

The one I am running is using a modified HX40 16cm wastegated exhaust housing that bolts directly to the stock exhaust maniforld. Larger HX40 housings, with the small foot, can also be used based on application.

Just got it :D :--)

Hey J. R. ... where are the new coil springs? Don't they come with it? This things gonna lower the front end ride height. ... ;)

Too  . You guys ought to see the compressor housing on this ... my my ... that's a big one. I guess it'll clear the exhaust manifold. Oo.

What size of exhuast housing are you running. If you look at my performance "stuff" in my signature. I am hitting over 1600 degrees if i hold the hammer down. I have a 0 to 35 psi boost gauge, and it is always reading in between the screws!! I think about 43 or so psi. The exhaust housing i am running is a non wastegated 16. I would really like to stay with the single turbo design. (Duh! I just read above, does JR make a bigger exhaust housing than a 16???)

The max EGT I have seen is 1425 while holding the pedal to the floor. That is with the setup in my sig.

I know an 18cm housing is available and I believe that there is one larger than that yet.

A HX40 down pipe is a direct bolt on to these chargers.

I would recomend PMing J. R. He is a member on here or give him a call 317-281-3130.

It looks like that little hy got a little warm. ;) How big is the exhaust housing on the 55. The compressor side is BIG.

For the guys with the new turbo. Do you think you could tow with it? I had one of haisley machine's hx 50/55 and didn't like the slowness to build the first 8 to 10 lbs of boost. Down the interstate it ran about 2 to 3 lbs of boost at 70 mph with some were around 880 to 950 egt with no load. what do you guys see at 70 mph on flat ground?

I believ it would depend on the towing conditions and the the other uses of the truck. If you want to tow heavy, over 15k GCVW, and on unlevel ground you may loose top gear in certain conditions. However if you are trying to stay in the street pulling class it is the best all around solution. If you want to tow heavy, on uneven ground and are not concerned about pulling class rules then a small set of twins may be a better option. This is my opinion based on running one for about 5 months.
