Getting ready to do my transmission fliud change. Per my owners manual it says on 4X4 to jack at axles and in a shop manual to use front frame rails or frame rail by transmission support bracket. Where are you guys putting your jack stands on 3rd gen trucks.

Axles just under the spring perch. Could also be fine from the frame, but with a high 4x4, I doubt I will be able to get it much higher.

I don't imagine you'd need to jack up the truck unless you can't fit under there. My 2nd gen is tall enough... shoot I can almost sit under it!

I did some work on a 1500 the other day and I needed to lift it, my belly wouldn't fit under the skid plate even

Thanks Big Norwegian,If I had to go to the frame I was going to need higher jack stands. Yo Nate I can change the oil and do the diffs without a lift but at 6'6' and 350lbs I want some breathing room when I drop the transmission pan. Thanks again for the heads up.
