I am wondering what the jack for the 4x4 looks like. I just noticed that I have the bag under the back seat with all the stuff in it to change the spare tire, but there is no jack. Could somebody E mail me a picture of the jack. Does the jack have to be a powerful one to pick up the heavy truck.

The OEM bottle jack is designed for emergency use, and is a PITA.

I would spend the money and buy a hydraulic bottle jack (2 ton minimum) or floor jack and keep it in the tool box, or under the seat if it will fit.

I keep a 2 ton floor jack and a 4 way lug wrench in the tool box.

I agree with Sticks, buy a hydraulic jack, but make sure it's short enough to get under the axle when the tire is flat and long enough stroke to raise it up. Also consider getting some of those supports that you can place under the axle in case the jack goes out. Works great when rotating your tires.

zues,

You didn't say what year/model your truck is. On my '95 extended cab there is a small compartment near the side of the cab under the back seat that has the jack. The OEM jack does work. It will jack up the truck and is pretty sturdy. My navigation challenged son-in-law "guided" me up the wrong road in '95 on the way to a place to do a little fishing. There was a puddle in the "road" that turned out to be a spring. It took six hours to get out of that and all I had was the OEM jack. I now carry a better jack, however the OEM jack does work and it has a nice little place to store it. Changing a flat should be no problem with it. Getting out when your are stuck is another thing.

I have a 4 ton bottle jack in the truck made Bull Dog Co. I got it from Wal Mart it is in a black plastic carry case and only cost me like $ 16. 00. Bet BOMB investment iv made yet. Helped me a few times and a few other people.
