Jacob's brake...need help

I just installed my "Jake" brake, and it works good. To be quite honest, I hope there is more of a noticeable difference when towing.



I also ordered and just received my shifter-mounted switch. Have any of you with the Jacob's brake used this switch? If so, how did you wire it. I am unsure which of the three wires, the ground, solenoid, or ECM wire to splice and actually "switch" on and off. Thanks in advance for the assistance.

Install the switch so that it interupts the signal from the ECM. The ECM supplies the "delayed" 12V to the vacuum solenoid.

If leaving the rocker switch in the circuit, use the yellow wire, cut and one end goes to the shifter switch and the other side of the shifter switch goes to the other side of the cut wire. If not using the rocker switch, go from red to yellow. Hope that answers your question.

I have the same brake, Keep your RPM up and it works great.

To be quite honest, I hope there is more of a noticeable difference when towing.

I have the same brake and yes, the performance when empty is a little disappointing. I think that's got to do with that stupid delay. By the time the brake kicks on, you're about ready to downshift again when empty. But loaded, it works pretty good. The engine hasn't slowed itself down to 1800 rpm by the time the brake kicks on when your hauling heavy. I am going to set mine up to go on instantly when I take my foot of the loud pedal and it will also shut itself off when the engine drops below 900 rpm. I just haven't decided how best to accomplish this yet.
