I wanted to have my dealer install the exhaust brake, but Dodge still won’t send it to the dealer for the 48RE. :( ... Any ideas when it will be in/approved for 48RE?? Does Cummins have to modify the brake for the 48RE or is warranty testing holding this up??

It is kind of frustrating (nothing new with DC)... . You can pull a 16K 5er with the auto, but DC recommends you have an exhaust brake, but we won’t sell you one for the automatic... .

Doc,

I hear you. However DC's statement with regard to exhaust brakes is specific to 3500 models with manual transmissions. I know it doesn't make sense but waiting for DC to come up with meaningful information is an excercise in aging. A lot like the hitch issue was for me. Maybe Carlton has an update on this one.

Doc,

I think that it was posted previously that the brake is still undergoing testing with the 48RE and then will get Cummins/DC's blessing.

JAKE BREAK INSTALL

What does it take to install the JAKE BREAK ?? Can I do it myself?? Has anyone installed it , how difficult is it.

Larry

Yup, you can install it yourself. If you are fairly handy with mechanical stuff should take about 5 to 6 hours. The Jacobs instruction book is excellent. Did mine in 4 hours and a bit.
