I am going to install the PAC BRAKE. 12K warranty on the Jacobs is not worth the difference down line in repair costs of the Jacobs. It doesn't crash untill after 12K anyway from all of what I have read.

We got about 12" in a couple of early storms. I'm about 60 miles from the Canadian border in Sandpoint. Regarding the Jake brake, if you are into installing it yourself or having an independent menchanic do it, call Dave Smith in Kellogg, Id. for a price. They were fair and shipped it to me.

We've sold a lot of the new PXRB's to customers who have picked up their trucks at dave smith or dishman (spokane)... . The pacbrake comes with an air tank and hose kit... so later if you wish to add air horns, or air bags to the rear of the truck you have an air supply already on the truck... the air compressor is electric and hasn't been a problem as a service item... . the hose kit will service small tires... bicycles, atv's etc. . but is not designed for our PU tires...



The pacbrake interfaces with the ecm and does a great job... . a group of the guys listed above have used us... . check out the C44045 at www.pacbrake.com

If you buy it from the dealer after the sale of the truck it is an aftermarket part covered by Mopars 12 month 12K mile warranty. thats it.



After that, when the vacuum pump fails the dealer wants like $700 bucks for the new one.



I had a Jacobs on my 2003. Worked great till the vacuum pump went south. I would recommend you get a BD or Pacbrake and do the install yourself. Nothing hard at all, basic hand tools.

No. If it is installed by the dealer it will get the same warranty as if it were factory installed,remainder of the 3/36. That being said I don't care for the vacuum set-up either

Happened to call a local Cummins dealer and asked if they sold the jake brake for the 5. 9. The parts dude looked it up and gave me a price of $1087. 00 plus install. Sounds like if we all went to a big rig dealer we would save $300 right off the bat on parts alone. Install book time according to MOPAR Accessory book is 3. 5 hours.

Not sure of what fits what, but thats about what I paid to have my brake installed. It works well at speeds above 22 mph, slower than this speed and jake shuts off. Reall problem for me, still trying to solve.

I have talked to a couple mopar techs and both say they install less than 3. Go down to the dealer and ask to see the MOPAR accessory catalog and look up the brake and it states 3. 5 hrs for labor. Either they are wrong or the tech can't install within that time and if so then he is loosing $$$

Ok, I have done a lot of research and appreciate everyones input. I have decided to go with the 5 inch remote mounted Pacbrake C44047. I talked to Bruce @ Pacbrake and he emailed me the install info and went over the specs and advantages. THANKS BRUCE and everyone who gave their input.
