I have noticed a squeal in my jake brake when it initially starts to slow me. Works ok, just a momentary squeal. Dlr suspects the butterfly valve needs to be replaced so that's where we'll go next Monday.

Anyone else experience this?

Mine had a squeal before I had the alternator bracket replaced with the new style on the tsb, it went away for a while then came back, stayed awhile and then left for good. I haven't heard it for months. I think the noise is belt related but am not real sure of that.

It certainly sounded like a belt squeal and the jake brake is belt driven, even uses a special belt so we'll see. I really don't care what the tro is , just want it fixed.

I believe the engine cooling fan is engaged with the Jacobs exhaust brake. If that is the case, the belt chirp is most likely due to the fan clutch engaging.

Mine has started to chirp too. I guess I have had it on for over a year now. I am pretty sure it is a belt squeal.

I was told to put a few drops of oil in the vaccum line to oil the butterfly, but that was to prevent it from sticking.
