[F]My vacuum pump took a dump this past weekend while out of town. I made it back home, but was worried the shaft would seize. Changed the belt to the stock one and pulled the pump off. Went looking for a new pump yesterday, wow, what a price difference. Dodge dealer wanted $1046 for a new pump! Cummins Rocky Mtn. , a couple of blocks away, wanted $215 for a new one. Wasn't hard to make that decision. A bit disappointed it failed at 75K. [/FONT]

My first one in an '06 Ram failed at around 65 or 70k IIRC. The replacement from a Cummins dealer still worked great at 230k when I sold the truck. The original pumps may have been improved.
