transmission Questions

I am removeing my Jacobs exhaust brake. The wire that goes into the ECM- How do you pull it out??? I do not want to rip the wire apart.

Thanks for any suggestions.

A mechanic at your local JOHN DEERE tractor dealorship, or autoparts store should have a tool that looks like a hollow screwdriver that will insert around the plug and push the pin out backwards. The harness has a 4mm allen head bolt in the center of the connector connecting it to the block, be careful when you reinstall the plug into the engine you don't want to bend or break any of the other pins!!!

I bought my pacbrake used and the guy who sold it to me just cut the wire from the ecm but I dont think that would be the best way. If your out of waranty just open the box up. Thats what I did when I accidentally pushed the plug in too far and couldn't get it pulled out. I suppose that would work the same as it did for me.

The ECM pin extraction tool is made by Deutch and is the small "red extractor" sold by Cummins. A one wire pigtail with new ECM pin will run about 12 bucks from Cummins.
