Jardine exhaust

Hey guys. Does any one in the San Diego area have a Jardine exhaust on their truck? I recently removed the stock resonator and muffler and replaced it with a walker 21468. The whistle is driving me nuts. Was thinking about the Jardine. Want to hear one first before I waste any more money.

If any one has there stock resonator and muffler they want to get rid of let me know.

I have driven over 150 miles with the muffler on my truck. Doesn't seem to be getting any quieter. The truck sounds like a tea kettle.

It has been a long time since someone used that muffler but Thoes that did had the same problem last year. I believe that that muffler is baffeled and not suitable for turbos. got to go now South Park is on.

It's a rerun.

Jardine is a quality system, as are several other units. The jardine is probably the quietest of the bunch.

I read all these old posts saying what a great muffler the Walker 21468 was. Joe D. recommended it and so did Jannetty. I guess this must be a 12V verses 24V thing. I am leaning towards the Jardine system I just would like to hear one first, perferably on a 24V. Come you guys there has got to be someone around here who has a Jardine exhaust on their truck.

How many miles do you have on the walker muffler???
The Jardine muffler whistles ( more like a hiss ) a little for about 10 miles of driving then goes away and sounds "good and quiet".

I now have another problem. I called up Jardine today and they had me talked into ordering on of their systems. I told him I had a larger than stock spare tire underneath. I have a 255 85r 16 spare. They said that their exhaust would not fit because the rear hanger would hit the spare tire and burn it. Do any of you guys have a larger spare and running the Jardine? I'm running out of options.

What's this about the 21468 having a whistle?

I read all the old post too and I didn't hear anyone mention this problem. I also read all the good comments and recommendations about the 21471 (big brother to the 21468 and that's why I ordered one. I hope the damn_ thing doesn't whistle.

Maybe because you using 4" it wont whistle. I hope for you sake it doesn't.

The Walker 21471 muffler does not whistle. At least I can't hear any. I had it on with the exhaust exiting in front of the rear wheels, and now with my stack. It sounds a little louder than stock, with a lower and heavier tone. I'm sure you will like it.

I'm running 285/75Rx16 which are 33" tall. It clears my Jardine system just fine.

Does this mean that you have the same size tire as a spare? What's the difference in diameter between the two tires?
285 75 16 versus 255 85 16.

Diameter is the same on the two tires you are asking about. The 255 is 1-1. 5 inches narrower, depending on brand, than the 285. To be exact 30mm.

According to BFG, the 255/85R16's are 33. 3" tall, and the 285/75R16's are 32. 9" tall.

I do have a 285/75R16 Cooper A/T which is 32. 75" tall for the spare tire. I think that you would be able to install the 4" Jardine and still have clearance. Just make sure that when you install it, that you insert the pipe all the way into the slip joints.

It's not the pipe inself I'm concerned with. Matt from Jardine said the hanger would hit the tire which would overtime start melting the rubber. Does this make sense?

I just went out an measured the clearance. I have 3/8" clearance on the muffler clamp bolt, 1" clearance on the muffler clamp and 1 1/2" clearance on the pipe in relation to the tire. I just rotated tires, took the NEW tire off the spare, there was no damaged to the tire at all. I think there is enough air with my setup that it doesn't get hot enough to hurt the tire. Remember low heat while idleing, high heat at WOT while driving down road.

While looking at the hanger, if a person is really worried about it, I think you can bent the hanger with a torch to make even more clearance.

While cranking your spare tire into place, you may be able to gain a little more clearance.

Hope this helps, I love the ease of the installation, it took me 2 1/4 hrs by myself to remove the stock system and install the Jardine! Bolts right on, NO welding! Not to mention the AWESOME sound! #ad

My spare barely fits in there. It is squeezed between the two pieces of metal running under the bed. Right now with my stock system the hanger is about touching the tire. At most there is a 1/8 inch of clearance.
