Arctic Fox vs. Forest River Flagstaff

What does your average bare bones flatbed weigh?

Does anyone have one of these? Getting close to making a decision and wanted to know if anybody has any input good or bad. We are looking at 2007.

We've owned 3 Jaycos, 2 of those being 5th wheels (a 1996 Designer 3030RKSS and a 2000 Designer XL 3610RLTS). Each gave years of reliable service. Our experience is that Jayco offered excellent value at its price point in the market and worked hard on customer satisfaction and support of their product (check out their warranty coverage).

We'd probably still have the 2000 today if Momma hadn't walked into our current RV on that dealer's lot.....

I am not familiar with that model but we bought a 34 foot Jayco Designer in 1998. We are still very please with our trailer. The only problem we had was under warranty: the range top flaked and had to be replaced three times: we lost a section of underbelly which was replaced with thicker metal.

I have a Jayco (2003) toy hauler. I love it, and for the price I think it was put together quite solidly. one or two small issues, but it has served me well since 2003.

I owned a 96 Jayco 28rks. It was,ok on good roads, but it suffered some structual problems (slide operation failures, broken springs, worn out suspension, and rain water leaks) during a trip to Alaska. We downsized to a 21. 5 Nash and I think it is much better structually. No slide though, and that makes structure integrety easier. The Jayco was a bit fancier, but if I wanted nicer furnishings I'd have bought the same unit in Artic Fox. These things really seem to hang together on very bad roads.

As previously stated, look up the Consumer RV rating reports. Lots of good info there.

Rog i think the Arctic Fox would be my first choice but they dont offer my floor plan that we want. I think their quality and price point is excellent. If they offer this floor plan next year i wont be a happy camper:rolleyes: It came down to the Alumascape 32skt and the Jayco but better pricing/ warranty on the Jayco.

:Bartlett,

Again, I think the Jayco was a nice unit and good value. I think mine would have held up quite nicely had I not given it the "Alaska" treatment.

Hope you like it. They are quite nice.

Be aware that the 1996 Designer was wood framed superstructure. Designers from 2001 up are aluminum superstructure.

We're on our third fifth wheel and have refined out search criteria each time. This is our current model:

This unit is also a triple slide, like the one you are looking at (it's 31. 5' long), but here is what sold us on this one. I really like the open area in the back. When all the slides are out, there's plenty of room. The entertainment area is visible from all the seating areas. I will never own another 5th wheel that has the entertainment center on the forward wall. Makes it hard to see from the seating areas and someone is alway walking in front of it to get in and out the door. I wanted an enclosed bath suite. The new open bath suites that are on many new models may be someones cup of tea but I like a private area. This is especially true if you have older kids or take someone with you. Ours also has the washer/dryer option in the bath closet. Doesn't do a ton of clothes at one time, but it sure is handy when camping for a week or more.

There's a ton of models to look at, but look with a critical eye when buying your next dream RV... :)
